1960 1675 GMT Thoughts and Opinions

I’ve come across this 62XXXX serial 1960 1675 GMT, these gmt’s are not my forte and would love some extra assistance.

From the photos I’ve been sent the watch is in fairly polished condition as the endlink pins are close to the edge and that the hour hand has been either relumed or is a replacement. I believe that the insert is a later reproduction but would love some assistance with both learning and ideas in terms of price as they are asking the equivalent of AUD 22k.

Look forward to hearing from the community

Can you verify the year with serial, caseback date stamp?

Any pics of the ref numbers?

All of the important original parts (dial, hands, insert) have been replaced, dramatically reducing the collectibility and value of the watch. There's nothing wrong with a watch that has replacement parts if that's what you want, but the market value is only a fraction of the asking price.

OP i think you may be missing a digit for your serial # as this number would have pcg. either way def a service piece as mentioned.

22k - your money is better spent elsewhere.

Thanks everyone, concerning the serial number it was the one that was provided to me, so it’s always possible that it’s been restamped as I haven’t seen any photos.

I will leave the watch with the buyer as your knowledge has deterred me from purchasing it.

Stupid question but does your next watch have to be a 1675? For a fair bit less you can get a nice 16710/16750

The OP stated that it is AUD 22K which is around USD 13K. Not a horrible price for a service watch

Nothing beats the charm of these older models, but yes, quickset is really nice to have. Especially if your watch isn’t always in rotation.

The movement should be a 1560 if the watch is suppose to be from 1960.

I bet the first digit, a 1, is missing from what was given to you for the serial number. A 600K serial watch would have pointed crown guards. If it was pointed crown guard and nice dial and hands 22K would be a good deal

That watch is obviously not from 1960.

As others have stated.
