Yacht Master Chronograph

I’m loving my blue dial YM40 which I bought last year from my AD. It’s a stunning watch to look at, particularly out & about in the sun!

Anyways, I was reading up on the model generally & came across this late 60’s chronograph version which I understand only a couple of exist.

What a very cool looking watch!

I’m guessing a precursor to the Daytona?

No doubt some of you will know about this model already, but thought I would share.

Seems like there’s more history to the YM name than generally known!

I haven’t got those photography skills either!

It was an image in the interesting article I read.

Early YM prototype. Well known to vintage experts.
I don't believe it was ever released.
There are articles out there that discuss it.

I think it is a Singer dial. They produced cool stuff. Rolex should sell this version.

Yes Singer Mash-up Exotic 3 colour Art Deco prototype. Apparently Clapton once owned it.... no footer on dial is interesting.

It is a loose dial from a Singer catalogue that never made it into production, hence no dial feet. It was never sold in a watch and someone just fitted it to a daytona and in my opinion, fooled someone to buy it.

^^ The above is the tale I believe recall reading online, something to the effect of a binder of these non-footed dials were found and fitted into watches and sold as unicorns.
