Watch running slow even after recent service
I got my 1965 1501 Date back from service a few days ago, and immediatley began timing it. It is running 6.95 sec slow per day, not within COSC obviously. It is a 1570 movement.
Should I accept that it is an older Rolex and live with it, or do you all think it could be regulated more closely? When I sent it in it was running over 20 sec slow per day, so obviously it is a major improvement. As a side note, my 1987 16030 Datejust that was serviced a few months ago by the same person is running .63 sec fast per day. NICE!

Heck no...
I had a 1570 movt 1601 which ran dead flat zero. That needs to be addressed. Will your watch guy re regulate?

FWIW my mom's 1953 Lady DJ is running spot on after a recent service.
I believe any Rolex should be capable of COSC regardless of age if in proper shape. Hope you get this sorted out, Pete.

I have an excel spreadsheet that I downloaded from the web and it's sole purpose is to calculate loss/gain. It was from someone on an Omega forum that did it. You put in a starting date and time, then an end date and time, and the gain or loss in that period. Great little tool.

Keep in mind that COSC and it's standards did not exist before 1973..
Your watch runs within the "accepted" 10 second spread for watches of the era.. However...I know that that movement can be regulated to perform better.. If it is 6 seconds slow consistently, it can be regulated to be ~3 seconds fast and the slow beat movements are very adaptable to positional regulation.. At night lay it flat on it's back if it is running slow..
