Which stainless-steel perpetual calendar would you buy?

Dear TRF,

I'm thinking in mind of getting a mid-tier branded stainless steel dress watch that has perpetual calendar complication, I have narrowed down to this list below.
1) Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar:

2) Glashutte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar:

3) IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42:

4) Blancpain Villeret QP Phases de Lune:

Which one of the above is the best choice to buy in your opinion?

Edited: added a fourth choice - Blancpain

I voted for the GO because:

- It is the most legible
- I have not heard/read anything about movement problems like I have with the Richemont cousins

JLC because it shows the year.

IWC is a close second. Curved strap really makes it feel complete.

I like the aesthetics of the JLC the best, but I swore to myself I'd never buy another automatic JLC until they replace the ceramic ball bearings that sound like a child's rattle. So not luxury...

Not for me. Besides, it wasn't included in the poll above your post.

I voted for GO

It's very legible dial with fantastic power reserve, and great finishes for the price. I wanted to get a perpetual calendar 4 years ago and looked at all three option you have listed in person along with more expensive brands.

GO is by far the best option out of these 3 listed and it was the one I purchased.

Does it need to be stainless steel?
I picked up this Blancpain perpetual from 2007 for about 12k- so even cheaper than all those on your list- and also has the under the lugs adjusters that mean you don’t need pushers etc. very neat.

Blancpain over JLC for the better movement. GO if you prefer windows over subdials which I don’t.

Interesting. My Master Control (current reference) has a rotor that's dead silent. Your comment makes me wonder if my watch is faulty

All 4 are nice but I’m going with the JLC followed by the IWC.

I’m not a fan of Romans and the JLC just looks fresher and more modern while having good legibility and all the history I like in a brand.

My heart says JLC but having inspected one IRL I’d probably check the Blancpain.

For me, it's a toss up between the JLC and GO.

Perhaps JLC improved the noise. The last JLC I bought, a Geophysic Universal Time, which I still own and do like, makes way too much noise.

The only Blancpain I really like is the Fifty Fathoms, and for what it costs there is almost always something else I'd rather have.

I respect GO, and their design is fine, but some how I just can't get excited about the idea of owning one.

IWC's haven't made anything I have really liked since the early 2000s. They used to make some cool watches, now I just think of them as a lesser version of JLCs.

JLC makes a solid high quality product, the designs are classic, and a friend of mine has owned a JLC Master Perpetual Calendar in rose gold for several years. He really likes it a lot and hasn't had any issues with it.

Wishing you lots of luck with whatever you decide.

I love H Moser and it was one of the Perpetual calendars I looked at. It's an unorthodox layout and not the easiest Perpetual calendars to read.

I pick JLC first for its well balanced look. Blancpain would be the close second. IWC is too big (at least for me).

I owned the GO as well as the JLC and the GO was a better piece if you can handle the size. I traded the JLC for the GO because the JLC dial was difficult for me to read. I later traded the GO for a Patek 5205G, otherwise I would still own the GO.

It’s not in the poll. ;-)

Anyway, I’d go BP then GO then IWC then JLC.
