Ultraman -keep?
Hi guys, sorry for another ‘this it that’ thread but I was wondering on people’s experience with the JLC deep sea chronograph? Whilst I love my Ultraman I don’t wear it much and I do find manual wind Speedy’s a bit fiddly. Would it be mad to take advantage of the short term rise in Ultraman values and do a swap OR do you think it’s a keeper and investment and find some other way to fund a new watch purchase?

I'd dont think it would go up much more but if your fed up with manual wind i'd move it that's the one reason I never got a speedy i'm too lazy haha

I have owned both and liked the JLC more and will pick one up again at some point. The Ultraman is cool but in the end I did not like it enough for the money I had in it to keep it. I replaced it with the Speedmaster Racing 44.25 with the black dial and orange hands. I got a very fair deal and I like the size and look better. Get what you want and enjoy it.

I think it's a very cool watch you've got there. Truth be told though - life is short and you should own with brings you the most joy.
My best advice is just be 100% sure of your choice prior to making a move because it might not be the easiest piece to source a second time if you decided. |

If you don’t like it, flip it. Just bear in mind that if you do the trade with a grey, you may not get what you perceive to be market value for it.

General rule for me...not worn, it goes. I often put it away for a bit and see if I miss it.
But moving it now if high value and taking advantage is something I'd def consider myself...just remember if you end up regretting it, it may be harder to get again. |

Great to hear from someone who owned both. Did the JLC wear a bit thinner and if you could pick between one or other where would you go? Cheers |

Ultraman was a bit gimmicky - even for Omega. I’d take advantage and swap it for the JLC.

I’ve had both the Speedy Pro (although not the Ultraman variant) and the Deepsea Chrono. I would choose the JLC every time over the Speedy. That JLC is a fantastic watch, I miss it a lot and plan to one day reacquire it.
Size and comfort-wise I found them to be similar. Although an automatic, the JLC is not a thick watch like a 7750-based chrono is. Photo of my dearly departed Deepsea Chrono, to entice you... |

The best I can say is the Omega Ultraman wears like s 42mm Speedmaster. The JLC is similar but fits my wrist better. I prefer the movement in the JLC and the dial configuration.
