I have a Yachtmaster, all gold and I have never felt comfortable with it...too Showy. I saw a Daytona, gold and silver that looked more sporty and less ostentatious...any opinions. I also got the Yachtmaster as a gift so I don't know the relative value of YM vs the Daytona..any info on vlaue would be appreciated

Well, the 2T Daytona will be in the $10-$11K us (list),while 2T YM and Subs are under $7K; that is a big difference; if you like the Daytona; go for it!

First welcome to TRF John as for the Daytona it was a TT I expect gold and S.steel.Myself not a lover of the modern day Daytona,but much prefer the TT over the all S.steel.All gold watches are not the best sellers normally so have a look around the net, to see what the same year as yours are selling for.The new retail for a all gold Y/M is around $20700,but you can usually get a discount on the all gold watches..

I'm not a big YM fan so if it between the two, I'd go for Daytona. There are other choices of course so why not get down to your local AD and try a few on..........it makes all the difference.

I have the Sub Mariner, TT Black face, the Datejust WF Roman Numeral and the Tudor SS, Submariner. The all gold YM was the msot recent but as I said, never wear it....too showy. The Daytona TT was something I saw the rounded out the collection but didn't know the relative pricing or opinions on the YM vs the Daytona.

Used to work in Dubai for Aramco..now in Newport Beach, CA..like Newport Beach better.

I never knew Aramco had an off-shoot in Dubai. The Dharan site is just up the road from me.

Good catch, actually worked for National Bulk Carriers, did subcontract work for Aramco...shipping business VLCC's were based in Dubai...went back and forth between Dharan and Dubia and New York where NBC is based.

I have the SS Sub-date as well as the TT YM. Agreed, the TT YM can be ostentatious at times, but I love it. The TT Daytona too can be pretty flashy, but it's a superb chrono with one of the world's best movements. I say, go for it!!

Though this is my first post I've been reading for a while. My first Rolex 20 years ago was a TT Datejust, followed by gold Date, TT GMT, and presently a gold Yatch Master. The Yatch-Master is by far my favorite.

Just thought I'd throw my 2c into the mix...both are stunning pieces! But if you want to think logically (hang on....that's silly....who ever does that??) would you ever need the chronograph functions on the daytona? The stationary second hand bothers some people too. However, you can't help but love a complicated, busy yet still exceedingly well-laid out chrono face. Especially in TT with a steel dial...
If you prefer the simplicity (and all moving hands), go for the YM, or better yet.... a GMT.

Hmmm....now I'm tempted.
