YM40 impersonating other models whilst on holiday!
A bit tongue in cheek this!
Just back from a vacation in Rhodes and my YM40 (my favourite sunny day watch), was a travel companion. It never left my wrist & did its master of all attires role very well. In and around the pool & spa, it did a modicum of dive watch stuff pretending to be a Sub:- There are many ancient sites to see in Rhodes (and many stone scratch possibilities!!), so it had a go at being an Explorer II;- In the evening for dinner (after a good microfibre buff up!), it was dress watch time - move over DayDate!:- As I said, a lighthearted post but one I think that shows how flexible & suitable this underrated reference is in many circumstances. Also when travelling, it flies under the radar a bit. Anyways, the weather back in the UK will now be rubbish for 6 months, so the YM will go away for a while and the SD43 will get some wrist time instead!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Adventures of a Yacht-Master, i love it! Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
The YM is a fantastic watch. The SD43 is also very nice and they make a great pair, they complement each other. |

Glad you've had so much fun with your YM, this is how owning a watch should be like

Totally agree. I have never owned or wanted a Sub but I had two Yachtmasters back in the day, I think it’s more versatile. The blue dial like your’s still tempts me from time to time.

I love the YM! It's a Sub for those of us that refuse to be bland. I know that I will eventually own one! Thanks for sharing the amazing photos, OP!

Looks great in the pics OP… you’ve managed to capture the allure of the dial well.
Hope you had a great holiday and made memories with this stunner of a watch. |

It's a great looking watch but it will never be a Sub with that bezel.

Looks great, and in that setting, too! This model has grown on me a lot over the last several months. Yesterday evening before dinner I happened to drop into the local AD and had the chance to try this very watch on. It just may go to the top of my list.

Beautiful and somewhat underrated watch. A tad small for me otherwise I'd definitely own one.

YM40 is the most slept on Rolex watch in my opinion, as everyone defaults to Sub/GMT in this category. It doesn't help that it photographs poorly and doesn't showcase its actual real life presence/how the light plays off the dial and bezel. It's such a great aesthetic, gives a RO/Nautilus 'dressier' vibe for a Rolex sports model.
If they discontinue the YM40 model in the next couple years, I think it's going to transition to being a super sought after piece, as the YM42 is monotone and non-steel only. Kind of like how the Hulk was under retail forever, got discontinued, now people drool over it at super high markup. Definitely don't sell it OP! As an aside though, your wrist has got to be huge, it makes that YM look like a 36mm haha.

I’ve have got a fairly chunky 8 inch wrist, so a 40mm case is my minimum size. I think the angle of some of those pictures make it seem smaller. Looks mighty fine when on the wrist though!!
