16610 swiss only dial
Hello everyone,
I have an option to buy a 16610 swiss only dial A series, watch only- 6500$. The watch is in a really good condition and hasn’t been polished. I was wondering if to your experience, it is a decent price...? I am leaning towards taking it tomorrow but need the last push... Thanks everyone! |

How much more are people willing to pay for this "extra" on a 16610 you speak of...now and in the future? |

You and I both know that I can't bring such information as I am not a fortune teller. In addition, I think you're educated enough to understand that small nuance like that make difference. |

I think the swiss-only dials from 98-99 are a neat thing - a unique little distinction that didn't last for very long and therefore make it a topic of conversation. Are they any more valuable? Don't know, don't care maaaan

There’s a local guy in NY asking almost 10 grand for this watch without B&P! Do not fall for the hype. The only older Subs that will withstand a recession are the 5512/5513 and 1680s that are in excellent original condition. Maybe the early fat four Kermit. That’s it. 16610s are a dime a dozen with a 20+ year production and no one really cares if it says Swiss-T<25, Swiss or Swiss Made.
IMO holes vs. no holes and engraved vs. not engraved rehaut makes a bigger difference with this reference.

I think any hype induced price shift would have happened by now. I guess there's time yet. As has been said there are other characteristics later in the 16610 run that are considered more important than a missing MADE and possibly slightly crapper lume.

Still...like I said, a decent price. And if you know and trust the seller and this watch speaks to you...grab it and wear it and enjoy it!!!!

If your intent is to own and wear the watch, I would much rather get a modern reference by saving a little more.
You're getting very practical answers from the above members. That watch was $4500 - $5500 3 years ago. You would make much better appreciation gains investing your money outside of watches if investment is your intent. |

Same way I feel. Don't think they'll ever command a serious premium over Swiss Made dials. They're functionally identical.

I think a complete set very good condition early 16610 under 7K is a bargain these days, Most good quality 16610 start in the 7k range and go up from there. next year probably no $6K pieces around. All I know is that the longer you wait the more expensive it gets.

Congrats! Just got mine "swiss made" D series yesterday in pristine condition in the mail from our trusted seller DavidSW after having had other ceramic ones including SubC with date, GMT, SD400, and SD43 all gone and this oldy is my favorite. Only wish the bracelet was similar to the new ones. Here is a pic.

how many Swiss only dials where made you guys think? If only 1 year in production and rolex makes about 1 million watches, how many of them are subs? 10k? 20k?

Gonna get mine tomorrow! This price is going up fast! only few for sale on Chrono. This will be the last vintage Sub to get collected and imo even more rare than LV fat fours! Just a matter of time. Stock up.
