First ever rolex...confused

Hi guys
So I'm planning on buying my first ever rolex soon.
Im in love with day date 36mm yellow gold but a new one is out of my budget.
So I also like date just 36mm in two tone.
But I'm confused between a pre owned dsy date vs a brand new date just.
As I'm not a experienced buyer I'm fearful of getting fooled in buying something with after market parts.
Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

So you want to buy something you cannot afford, that life I’m afraid.

Buying used can be a minefield, probably best you stick to AD and buy a new Datejust TT, I’m sure there’s a few at your nearest AD.

1) do your homework and immerse yourself in knowledge

2) buy from someone reputable

3) if your heart is set on a DD, don't settle for a TT DJ

good luck in advance

Buy from a seller that sells genuine watches

IMO there's nothing wrong with dipping your toe in the water before you dive into the deep end. If you're looking at PM or TT, definitely go used. Buy from a reputable source. There are many here. Remember you can always ask for references, feedback on eBay, etc. If you stay newer, chances are you won't find any shoddy repair jobs with aftermarket parts.

Keep saving, then bite the bullet and buy your first one from an AD.

If you are interested in pre owned, go for it. Consider reference 18238. These are usually from the late 1980s into the 90s, and is perhaps the best deal in "vintage" Rolex right now. So much so that I bought my wife a 1990 model. I wear it often myself. There are several great, reputable sellers. Consider HQ Milton. They are easy to work with and you can be assured their watches are genuine and as presented.

Thank you guys.. I think it's best to find a trusted pre owned dealer..
I live in u.a.e so I don't have much options. With pre owned online I think.

Used DDs are actually one of the safest buys.

Typically not flipped as often as SS and the owners take care of them.

Also an amazing value.

Find a good used one and be happy.

I own both and I would go for the pre owned DD, you can get an awesome deal on one right now. No different than buying any other pre owed Rolex, do your homework and buy the seller. You will NOT be disappointed in the DD

If you buy a used DD, just get it from a trusted seller right here on TRF. There seem to be plenty available. You’ll then have no risk

IMHO pre-owned Day-Dates are the best value in Rolex right now. Many in the $11k-$13k range.

Buy the seller before you buy the watch

The most expensive watch you will buy will be the watch you bought instead of the watch you wanted

Also one other benefit of buying a pre owned DD vs some other models, there are many safe queen DDs out there. Also even the non safe queens you will find with minimal wrist time because most DD owners don't wear then ever day as Sub owner might...

I don't encourage buying out of budget at all. For sure if you go used you have read reviews on reputable dealers.
good luck on your quest

Try Beni Yas jewelers in the Gold Souk at the Central Post Office area. They often have “unwanted” gift Rolexes, new at used prices.
