AP Concept Wrist Check

Hey guys - long time lurker, first time poster.

I've always been intrigued by the concept line from afar, given how exotic and technical the watches are. I finally got to try one on and loved the look and feel of it. I have the opportunity to buy this piece at a very fair price - but I'm a little concerned that I just don't have the wrist for it.

For reference, my wrist is just under 7". I'm 6'4 and can (imo) generally pull off bigger pieces despite the smaller wrist size, but as everyone knows this watch is a monster. Curious to hear people's thoughts if it looks too outrageous or not.

If YOU like it, buy it. Who cares what strangers online think.

The venn diagram of people who

1) can afford this watch

2) have the massive wrists able to pull it off

is astonishingly small.

At the end of the day if you like it, go for it, but personally I think it's a bit too big. The marvel collaborations in 42 and the ladies concepts are really the only mortal sized concepts.

In general I agree with this. I'm not looking for validation or anything, but I think it's common that people buy watches that are too big for them and over time stop wearing them because it's too big. It's a big purchase potentially - just trying to make sure I don't end up with buyer's remorse if I pull the trigger.

Personally I think there are much nicer watches from AP at a fraction of the price.
Based on wrist size i think you may be pushing it just a bit...

It's supposed to look outrageous - whether it's too outrageous is in the eyes of the beholder. Looks good to me.

Wow.... If you're 6'4 tall, you can pull it off!

let us know if you decide to pull the trigger

Regarding fit and construction of case this generation of Concept is very very poorly designed watch, one of the worst AP ever made. No matter it is supposed to look loud and massive the case design is just wrong. Another massive watch I can think of that is also designed to look loud but have splendid case construction is RM011. New Greubel Forsey sport line is also much better designed than concept case...

I agree with edo’s comments above. Despite being only 44mm, which I’d normally expect a well built guy like you to easily pull off, there’s something about the end case design and how the strap end are flaring out a bit from the case before starting to wrap around your wrist. For such a price, I’d be looking for a much better fit. But I do understand the challenge of it all since it’s a beautiful piece.

I assume you mean only in design and shape of the case right? Rather than quality of construction?

It really is a shame these weren’t better designed. I’ve read the new style concept GMT (flying tourb) design is better - does anyone have experience with those?

Looks huge and sits awkwardly on your wrist.

It is a beautiful and striking piece, but the way the lugs are shaped make the strap flare out quite a bit (too much imo), I had the same issue when I tried on a concept not too long ago. That said, if it looks and feels right to you, and you’ll enjoy it, then go for it!

Stunning piece of art for sure. I'd say if it doesn't move around when you shake your wrist just go for it.

Agree that it doesn’t hug the wrist, but if that doesn’t bother you and you’re 6’4”, you can pull it off

Of course. The whole idea behind concept line is great, as it is movement designs. Even the case is a great looking one when not sitting on the wrist, ergonomics are the problem.

It flares out too much for my liking. But a great looking watch.

I like it and think it works for you. Part of the point of the watch is that it is larger. Just rock it.

If your 6'4" and can't pull this off, then there aren't many that can! I think size looks good on your wrist.

Looks good to me! Wrist size is not as important imo as height and body frame.

I'd do it.

Love the Concept line.

Love to have a great option in color white.

For casual UTR killer piece - I think you found it

At 6'4 - yes you have the ability to totally pull that off.

I didn’t think anyone could really pull it off until I finally got to handle one. I fell in love with and couldn’t believe how ‘wearable’ it really is, at least for me. I’d love to get one someday. I am here to encourage you to get it! Very very cool watches.

I agree. I was surprised by how wearable it felt, independent of the awkward lug overhang of course. Certainly more wearable than how it appears in photos.

Thanks for the feedback all. I’ll decide on pulling the trigger real soon and will def share more pics if I follow through.
