Tudor Oyster Prince 7967 (c1959) - More Information Required

Hi, could anyone provide me with a little more information on my stepfather's watch (which originally belonged to his father-in-law)? I have identified it as a self-winding Tudor Oyster Prince from c.1959 (reference 301110 7967) but have not come across another tuxedo face quite like this one. It is not in working order and missing its original strap, sadly, but we would still like to learn a little more about it before my step-father decides what to do with it.

Does anyone know what this exact face style/model is called (other than tuxedo)? It has numbers 3, 6, 9, 12 and "25 Jewels" on the face. Is it a rarer model?

Thank you in advance for any help given.

Hi and welcome,

This is referred to as a cross-hair tuxedo, one or two below utilizing the Tudor 2461 calibre with a lovely twisted/turned case (semi-bombay I'd describe it as).

Most have an unusual transitional caseback of both ROLEX GENEVE etc and the model no and serial number stamped on them/year of manuf stamped inside.

They are very nice piece that wear bigger than 34mm as I think 20mm lug width from memory, so more like a 35/36mm on wrist.

A v nice piece.... I have a couple similar style with copper coloured inner section.... the black one is very cool and is referred to as Roger Sterling of 'Mad Men' . I've put in the Christie's auction of actual one sold at auction with prop. manager / director Provenance.

REALISTICALLY £1200 -£1500 if sorted out but left bit scruffy btw, mint ones £2500, full set like new £4000.... hope that helps. SHWR in Hertfordshire I use for vintage restoration work....

The Christie's watch made £10k, 3 or 4 times it's worth..MadMen fan no doubt buyer !

OP we here on TRF are all happy to help F.O.C, but THE MOST disheartening thing of all for most of us, is when you spend an hr. or so helping an uninitiated newbie, and they just disappear/don't respond !!
