1989 gmt 16750

Hello, I'm new here and looking to purchase my first Rolex.

There is a 1989 GMT 16750 in my area that's complete and was recently serviced, comes with an extra bezel and the seller says it's in great shape.

I'm from Canada and wondered if $19,000 is a fair price or should i continue looking and do you think the watch will go up in price over time?

I know there is likely a lot of subjectivity with the question due to shape and such.

Thanks in advance

Have you bought your watch?
Just wanna tell you, ive been reading, chatting, going into shops, spending times on websites for about ONE year before buying my first vintage rolex.
It worth it!
Good luck

High price in my view. Can do better for that money. Post pics. Spend time on the hunt. Don’t scratch the itch 10 mins into the game

Tropical Watch has several nice 16750s for sale for a lot cheaper than that. No affiliation to the site I just go drool over the collection from time to time.

If it’s a complete set and recently serviced that adds a lot of value. If it’s all original (no replacement dial, hands, relume, etc), just lightly polished or not at all with good lug profiles, bracelet in good condition, and has a nice even patina throughout then yeah I think $19,000 is honestly a reasonable price. Especially if one of the bezels has a unique fade to it.

If the watch has been way over polished, if it’s not 100% original, bad dial, etc, then it’s too much.

Agree with others… check tropical watch, bobs watches vintage section, hq milton, etc to see what they’re offering, the condition, their asking price, and make your decision. I too spend weeks/months researching before a purchase like that.

I just purchased a 16700, 1998 one owner, complete, basically like new perfect example and have a good idea of pricing for the 80’s-90’s range if GMT-Master and GMT-Master II. If your 16750 is 10 years older than the watch I just bought, just serviced, and in excellent all original condition, and ask is under $20k I’d do it.

He's gone. The OP posted last year, 1 post only from this user. Then the thread was necro'd by the 1st reply 2 months later. The guy has probably not bought the GMT he is talking about or he would be talking more about it?

Here's to those who don't look at the details on the left.

Next, let's see who doesn't read beyond the first post and misses this before they post another reply.

Yeah, I noticed that too. LOL.
But on the topic, $19K for a 16750 three months ago would have been a ridiculously high price. I have a couple of GMT IIs and been watching that market for quite a while and up to now a $19K would be way too expensive. DavidSW and TropicalWatch doesn't even go that high and these guys already charge quite a premium. I hope the OP did not buy the watch.

What I like is a first post wondering if a Rolex will go up in price and then the OP is gone? Weird
