NEW GUY ALERT!!! NEW GUY ALERT!!! Rookie, Rollex-Trainee :) :)
1st post so bear with my new-ness :)
Name is Jeff from Houston.... and just want to say hello! Got my 1st Rolex this summer - 05 Seadweller.... and now I'm addicted!!!! Wife wanted one.... so she just got an 06 SS Date Sub...... Brother wanted one.... so he got a mid 90's Non-Date Sub..... And finally wife got a Ladies Date-just in SS/White Gold. I've got my mind set on a 18K SUB w/Blue Dial....... a work of art!!!! I'm not sure how this crazy addiction started.... but I can't stop looking at all the beautiful rollies on this forum and others. Be easy on my rookie-self as I learn the ropes and step up from my old Swiss-army watches and cereal box watches ;) Jeff - Addicted to Sparkly Time-pcs ;) |

Thanks for the warm welcome
Is it bad to polish your SD in meetings? Is it bad to admire your SD while listening to your boss? Is it bad to dream of your "future" 18K Sub while browsing the mall with your wife? YAR! I'm an addict! |

Welcome to TRF, Jeff. From the tone of your posts, you are going to fit right in here.
And to echo what others have said: 1. No one knows how the addiction starts, but there is no known cure. It is chronic. So just accept that you have this incurable addiction and go for the TT Blue Sub (which, once upon a time was JJ's all time favorite Rolex that he wouldn't part with on pain of death - of course that was about 4 watches ago ). 2. It is entirely permissible to stare at your watch at any and all times - I only caution you that when you are driving you should look at the road every couple of minutes - you never know what idiot my be coming up on you from the front. So welcome again to TRF, Jeff and join the fun here on a regular basis.

Is it bad to polish your SD in meetings?
No, I do this all the time. Is it bad to admire your SD while listening to your boss? No, I never listen to myself anyway. But don't EVER listen to your SD while admiring your boss. That's way too seductive. Is it bad to dream of your "future" 18K Sub while browsing the mall with your wife? No, I just did this last Monday. It's only bad when you do it with your wife in front of your teenage stepson, who will repeatedly ask you "How much does that cost?" so he can report back to his father.

Big welcome Jeff. You'll fit in right in here. Congratulations on your addiction. The support group here will help you fuel it. If you want the 18kt SUb and can swing it, go for it. My friend has one on a jubilee. Not bad looking, but looks better on an oyster IMO.

The Wife
The key to getting her on my side....... is simply to purchase her one too..... the SS Sub Date wash purely hush money!
My brother just got the Non-date sub as a b-day present Friday and Man was he surprised!!!! He was expecting the usual brother present - CD, T-shirt, etc...... and BAM! Gotcha :) He's an attorney so it will fit right in his lifestyle and garb IMHO :) I grew up with the Timex menatility..... $80 is too much to spend on a watch..... That is until I got this SD! Man-0h-man it is just fun to look at! And all those mechanical parts moving in perfect harmony with no outside power source except the movement of my arm..... plus the fact that is comes from years of Diving experience in industrial applications..... It's a total package or utility, beauty, jewelry, and it tells the time too Now if I can just decipher this re-occuring dream...... 18K Sub.... 18K Sub.... 18K Sub............... wonder what it means? |

Welcome.
The Blue TT Sub is beautiful. I was close to getting that instead of my black SS sub. In Canada here, the price was 50 % more for the blue. So, by leaving the blue one at the AD, I still have a carrot dangling out there for me. Addiction, maybe. I just thought of my signature I am going to post. "Rolex is the Male's Diamond" Enjoy |
