That's beautiful! What a really nice gift. I really like the version of this model in the rhodium plated brass with blued hands.

Their new infinite series is spectacular. They have a tellurium version (the Hybris Mechanica) that is so complicated and so precise that it is error free for 390 years! It is the most complicated movement they have ever produced. It tracks the precise moon position relative to the Earth, the Earth's precise position relative to the sun, the seasons, the Zodiac calendar, time, day, and more. At $570,000 it is a wee bit more than the others but it's just mesmerizing.

I love them. So fun to watch and truly a marvel. My grandfather had one that was given to him as a retirement gift from Standard Oil back in the 1970s and I loved watching it as a kid.

Here's their $570k Tellurium. The Earth is hand painted and rotates on its axis once per day. The moon is hand crafted and rotates around the Earth once per day, all while they are rotating around the sun, which is represented in the center of the dial. The moon phase ring around the Earth and moon is made from meteorite.

What a work of art. The whole thing is open but encased underneath a glass dome so you can watch all of the gears and see the bellows working.

On their website they go into great detail to show how they craft each component by hand. There's a cool video that shows them hand painting the Earth and putting other pieces together.

Once again, congrats. Your model is my favorite of the ones that we mortals can get.
