Aparently the 16610 is no longer in production.

Crap. I wanted one. I hate the new maxi dials.

you can still get a bnew 16610 on the ad's or the gray market dealers. But yeah that's what i heard from the ad's sales people, they already stopped the production of that model..

Rolex USA has been out of stock on the 16610 since before the end of the year, but apparently limited stock still exists in Switzerland. They plan to fill back-orders by March, but cannot guarantee availability on all orders. The new 116610 that will be replacing the 16610 will be announced at Basel in March.

There are still plenty to be found new, I'm sure. And if not, there's no shortage of them on the second hand market, the watch has been in production since the late 80s.

I've seen a few scattered reports here, but now it sounds legit. I was just looking to see if the major change is confirmed. This has been a popular model.

I've noticed that there seems to be far fewer 16610's in the AD's and grey market dealers windows here in Osaka. So maybe there is something to the rumors ! Will be a sad day when the 16610 and 14060 are no longer available new.

Now that I have to agree quite a few million I never believe what the ADs tell you.

No I don't think it's out of production. That's not possible.

Well, why else would RUSA have none left in stock? If a new model is about to be launched, it makes business sense to get rid of any old stock left over. The 16610 is a quick mover, the moment production stops, the stock will run low very quickly, which makes me believe that it's been out of production for a few months now.

Let us know what your AD says about the 16610. I have checked with 4 AD's that I deal with regularly and was told the same thing each time. Very few in stock, if any and generally no discount. One AD that I do a lot of business felt bad and offered me 5% off because of my prior relationship, the others said no discount. Needless to say, I passed.

By the way, the same is true for the LV. Although there may be a slightly greater bakc supply still around on LV's, but I have heard that production is over on the LV too.

Still on the new Rolex website, though. Just another rumour, perhaps?

Until March, it'll still be classed as a current model, as there are still watches available in ADs. They only updated the catalogues just before Christmas, and at that point (and, indeed, now), the new SS Sub hadn't been launched. They only update the master catalogues once per year

I really hope this is true because there would be no way Rolex would let subs be unavailable for more than 1-2 months. If this is true, Rolex would not only launch, but make the new SS sub available right after March. Why would Rolex Make there biggest seller unavailable for extended amount of time?

imo rolex may stop the prodction early knowing the SS Sub is and will always be in demand, therefore, if there are customers will to pay for it, it only makes great business sense to "make" customers to buy the new ceamic ss sub instead, at a higher price also....... Again, it is only my opinion........

Yeap just got back from my shopping trip and went to 3 ADs today and all of them's got the SSSub date in stock and only 2 AD's got the LV in stock. BTW I live in Singapore.

I had also talked to 3 ADS that I deal with and they said back in January that the SS16610 was very hard to get from RUSA. Makes me belive that a new one most likley the 116610 will be unveiled on March 18th at Basel. We will have to wait and see.

Good riddance! Total saturation in Hong Kong!

Seriously, I think there are some who are still saving up for the 16610 and hope to buy their 'grail' some years down the road.

It's sad to lose a classic and exactly how I felt when the Pepsi gave up its ghost. These are 'life milestones' for some of us, like acquiring a SS Daytona. Congrats you made it sort of thing. Imagine if the SS Daytona is longer the one we see today, say with a date or oversized?

But this is not news, the gold SubC has been out for a while, it was only bound to happen.

Cheers,
