Strange Pricing Daytona At Jewelery Show

Went to a big jewelery show today in Va.
Very close to 100 rollies at the show - many with new dials etc.
And there are 5 Daytonas. No SS White Dial.
I was looking at one 2008 model. 18K TT With Black Dial. With original papers.
The dealer's son was telling me $6800.00 Well, the 18K Gold Bezel has many tiny fine scratches. And a few here and there on the band. Told him I'd think about it and wondered off to see other rollies.
30 minutes I went back there and talked to the son again. And asked seriously for the lowest price. He went to ask his dad and came with an apology saying the $6800 price was their cost and now his dad wanted $7200.
I did not want to argue or say anything. His dad just turn me off as a potential customer.
I guess he could have sold it for $6800 had I argued.
I ended up without buying the watch. My desire to own one just vanish at that instant.

Here is a picture of how the watch looks like. There is also a white dial for $7500 from another dealer. Same 08 model with papers.

Sounds like it was a mistake on the son's part or the worst negotiation ever! lol

Maybe they don't grasp that you are supposed to go lower, buyer goes higher and you meet at a happy middle ground!
I have seen some TT that are in great condition for less than that...don't let one bad experience sour you on the TT Daytona if you love it.

Good Luck.

7200 is still a decent price but I see where you are coming from. It becomes a matter of principle.

I know the feeling, I am in Maui I went into Baron and Leeds. I was told the best they could do was $500.00 off and saving tax by shipping. The sales person then said "We follow the rules set by Rolex, this is why we still are in business and the others (in the area) are not."
I did not say much I just said to my self 20% off and tax savings too on the main land. No sale for me in Maui this year. B and L has about 1/2 the watches they had last year, business is very slow as tourism is way down. I am amazed how some of these sales people think we as customers don't do research or look around $500.00 off is no deal maybe for a sucker.
