Do you wear a Daytona as a daily?
Just asking for opinions please
Does anyone wear a Daytona as a daily either 116520 or a 116500 Considering treating myself my currently daily is a 2024 sub date. I'm conscious the 116520 is heavily polished and the tarnishing could drive me insane? What's people's experiences? |

You can easily daily a Daytona. But yes desk diving scuffs and minor scratches will appear far more easily on the polished parts of the bracelet and case, versus the brushed nature of the Sub. Whether that bothers you enough to prevent you from having the Daytona as a daily is entirely up to you. Doesn't bother me at all, sh!t happens and it's a watch at the end of the day

My 500 has been an excellent daily. The ceramic bezel makes it feel a bit sportier and more durable but doesn't diminish the elegance of the Daytona.
The polished center links get a bit scratched up over the years, but only upon close inspection. Looks good as new overall. |

I don't daily any of my watch per se, but it's part of a rotation, and I wore my 500 to do school drop off this morning.
That being said, I wouldn't take my 500 everywhere. There's no need to wear a $20k+ watch when you have to walk past homeless in downtown who probably owns no more than $100 of cash in total. It just feels wrong, not to mention unsafe. |

I wore two 116520’s as dailies from 2000-2008, white dial for the first four years then switched to black. I have more watches now so my 116500 just shares in the rotation.
They are certainly rugged and durable enough as any Rolex is. I never had much scratching on the steel bezels but the PCL bracelets will certainly show wear. |

No reason not to. Have been wearing a Deepsea mostly. Wear it with sweatpants or suits. Wear what you want!

Yes sir, the 126500 black dial is an almost daily watch for me. Only change it out a few times a week just to throw my other watches into the rotation. Otherwise its perfect and for me could be an only watch.

Yep, except for the summer when I tend to where the ND Sub more. But otherwise it's a 116500 Black everyday.

You can wear every watch as a daily. That’s what they are made for. I had the white dail for over a year as a daily. When I sold it to get another watch, it was still in excellent condition. Of course some. hairlines from wearing but nothing major.

The best part about Rolex is how easy they are to wear daily.
Easy to service, easy to take care of, very shock + water resistant, etc... I wouldn't sweat it. |

Not daily buy my 116500 White a lot. Could easily be a great daily watch.

I don't have a "daily" because I change through several different watches.
However, I don't treat the Daytona any differently - it's as daily as any of them.

I tend to wear watches for about a month then change.
In the last three months I've worn two 16520s and a 116520 for about a month each with no problems at all. The 116520 was worn on a holiday to the Lake District and it was dipped in various lakes and visited a swimming pool and steam room regularly. It has not been polished since 2009 and I'm sure that it will survive anything I can. I don't think twice about this watch being scratched or breaking, it is designed to wear and it certainly gets worn. |

I don’t personally and I own three. Slightly irritates me when I look for the date window after a few days. Then again I don’t really wear much apart from my SD43 anyway.

Like others here, I change up watches daily. But I often end up with one of the Daytona’s on the wrist. Variety of SS and PM on leather and OF makes for a number of options. Perfect fit for my wrist and lifestyle.

All my watches are rotated and worn on a monthly basis. My TT Daytona has its spot in that rotation, no exceptions.

I wore a zenith Daytona every day as my only watch between 1998 and 2010. It never left my wrist during that period and was serviced twice.
I had to replace the 12 o’clock side of the bracelet due to motorcycle fall and the pushers, crown and bezel were replaced by Rolex during one of those services. I still own the watch. Here it is next to some Ray Ban General 50th anniversary from around the same era as the watch when Ray Ban was still an American company.

I used to wear my 116520 white dial daily. Stopped doing that. The hype wasn't real for me. My neck of the woods gets about 130 good days of sunshine per year (optimistically). I found that it was just way too washed-out looking to be interesting, let alone being capable of being read.
It is a shiny watch if you go with a 116520 - no question. If you live in a sunny part of the world, the white is gorgeous. For me though (given the price and all the hype), Daytona isn't worth it. A zenith or 4 digit is a different story.

It certainly could be, no reason why not. Ceramic or no, both watches are more than up to the task.
