George Clooney's Snoopy up for auction

Saw this a bit earlier and thought I would share. Apparently, George Clooney is auctioning off his Speedmaster (Snoopy) for the "Homes For our Troops" organization. It'll be interesting to see what it sells for, but best of all the proceeds are supporting a good cause.

I would say that a Snoopy watch in a box signed by George Clooney is being auctioned as opposed to George Clooney's watch!

I wonder how often he has worn it?

Fair point! I tried to find a website or other info but only saw what was shown above. Apparently it's from his personal collection, but I'm not sure how often he wore it if at all.

He definitely was, and probably still is but I'm not entirely certain.

It's a great watch, indeed. I can completely understand why it's among the more sought after pieces in the Speedmaster line.

Yep

He's still on the Omega website so I assume he's still currently a paid ambassador

Ha!!

Does anyone really care about his signature or whatever provenance he brings especially as a paid ambassador that likely got the piece for free?

I mean I'm happy any time someone raises money for charity...just curious if his name brings cache in the watch world

I completely agree.

Better than sitting on his hands doing nothing and last I checked he was helping raise $8700 to a cause that appears to do great things.

And it just ended ($34,081.99 USD)! I was watching down to the last second and of course someone swooped in with th 94th bid and sniped it.

Agreed, I guess the timing didn't align well. The Phillips Racing Pulse auction or others similar may have brought more money for the charity. Someone got a great opportunity to own a piece with a direct connection to an ambassador for just a bit more than market value for regular versions.

This is what celebrities do - use their name to get other people to spend money.

I would like someone to obtain authentic records on how much these celebrities, pro athletes (with their so called 'Foundations') who earn million annually, how much of their own money they actually part with.

Anyone who says they have the slightest inkling is making it up, but if I had to guess, I would say the dollars are negligible.

He just gave 34k worth of his property to a charity that holds a special place in my heart as I have a personal friend who received a house from them. It shouldn’t matter if he got the watch for free or not, nor how “relevant” he is in the watch world. He autographed it and donated it to a great cause. Please don’t misconstrue this as putting him on a pedestal, but 34k is not a meaningless donation, no matter how much the person spent or will save in taxes. I promise you a deserving man or woman that needs a smart home doesn’t care that George Clooney donated a watch he may have gotten for free they just appreciate the compassion of those that helped them when they needed it.
