Fake or Not? Rolex Datejust

Hey folks,

my brother and I we inhered a watch. It's supposed to be a Rolex watch. My brother wants to sell it why I have tom compensate him. But I doubt that the watch is a real Rolex watch because I can't find the same model on the internet.

I brought the watch to a local watchmaker who opened the watch and confirmed that the movement is doubtless made by Rolex.

BUT

I'm concerned about the watch band

1.) Looking at the gold, you'll see visible solder joints. I never owned a Rolex before but I think an authentic Rolex would be perfectly finished?!

2.) It doesn't say SWISS MADE on the closer

3.) The Rolex crown is set at the edge and I could not find one Rolex where the crown is set left on the closer. Usually it's centered or somewhere else but not that left.

4.) Is it possible that only the watchband is fake but the rest of the watch is good?

I don't want to pay for a fake and I would appreciate any recommendations! And I also don't want to own a fake Rolex as my first Rolex watch.

MANY MANY THANKS!

You gave an oval link USA made band. It’s original from what I can see with newer endlinks all ok

You got your answer from the best.

Now how are you going to share that beauty you BOTH inherited??

A thousand thanks to you, folks! I'm very happy with that.

I'm now almost the new owner of that watch :-)

I'll get it to my watch repair for doing a service.

And than, I'll wear it and I'll post a cool photo for you guys!

Again, thanks!

There is a service center in Dallas. You won’t have far to go. My daughter in law works next door. I need to go see her office.....

It's very common to see solder joints on older bands. When links are removed that don't have screws, they just cut the gold link , add/remove the links, and re-solder them. Some jewelers are lazy, and do a poor job of cleaning them up.

My wife bought me what appears to me to be the same watch and bracelet. Mine is a 1601 made in 1973. At the moment the watch is in Dallas and the band in Hong Kong to be refurbished. If you want a new band DSC will do that for $4,000.00! My bracelet was in very poor condition.
