Rolex impulse purchase at Shanghai AD

In Shanghai for a week. Was walking around Nanjing Rd today and popped into a Rolex AD.

Walked out with this beauty:

Surprised at how many Rolex watches are for sale at ADs in China, mainly gold and some steel/gold models.

Congrats. Where are you from, don’t you have any problem with immigration I.e. declaring goods?

That is sooo nice. That spec just works so well & your pictures do the dial justice.

Just goes to show what an absolute awesome Rolex piece you can buy that’s not hype or megabucks, yet still amazing!

Congrats!
The econnomy is not doing well in China, people have low confidence things will improve and are all saving their cash. I am sure it also is having an impact towards the improved availability we are seeing in the west.

I’d preferred fluted bezel, but looks so good …

That’s one of my favorite DJs and the exact config I’d go with on the this dial. Jubilee/smooth.

Congrats

Not surprised that blue dial Rolexes are available for walk-ins. Asians just don't do blue dial Rolexes, especially HK Asians, the Cantonese speaking bunch.

Actually they had just received it and it was in the drawer. Full gold Subs, DD and OF SkyDwellers available for sale on display. It was the only SS piece they had and would’ve been sold pretty soon if I hadn’t got it.

They also had a steel/gold SkyDweller but was already booked by someone.

The other AD I walked in only had steel/gold DJs, full gold DD and OF SkyDwellers.

Really luck of the draw.

Thanks, it really is a beauty in the flesh, difficult to capture in a picture.

Particularly like the smooth bezel combined with jubilee bracelet.

The stickers are still on, will take them off when i get home.

I did not like this exact DJ combination, until I was in a work meeting and the person sitting across the table was wearing this and I couldn't stop myself staring at it.

Sometimes you just don't know whether you like a watch until you see it in the wild.
