Tag Heuer needs service…recommendations?
Hey everyone, I have a Tag Heuer Monaco that needs service. It’s losing quite a bit of time (more than 10 minutes per day) and there is an audible rotor noise. I haven’t been wearing it in the interest of sparing the movement further wear/damage, but it’s a gift from my wife and I would like to get it back in shape so it can see some wrist time.
It’s out of warranty at this point, so my question is should I pay to send it back to Tag, or are there better independent options here stateside that can get it sorted? Anyone have any experiences good or bad they can share? Just looking for a full movement overhaul no polishing / cosmetic reconditioning as the case and crystal are still in great shape. Thanks everyone!!

Tag Heuer needs service…recommendations?
I would send it directly to Tag Heuer with a letter what service they should do (movement only) and what they must NOT do (no polishing, no exchange of dial, hands, crystal …).

I serviced a vintage Heuer with Tag Heuer, and they did a great job. I gave them an initial list of things I didn’t want to do. When they got the watch and looked at what needed fixing, they reached out. We initially communicated via email, but switched to a live phone call to walk me through some of the details on an issue and decision just to make sure we were on the same page.
My one recommendation: set up service from their site. Add the watch, request service using their terms, and do it through them vs an authorized dealer. Working the telephone game through a dealer is no fun. |
