1665 Sea Dweller Double Red but in white?
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anybody has ever seen a dial like this in a 1665 7m serial. It doesn't stack up to me - so wondering if the its even possible it was double red that faded so badly, or if a repainted botched dial, or fake. any thoughts / sources would be appreciated. 1665 Sea Dweller Double Red but in white?
Hi Guys,
Just reaching out to see if anybody has seen one of these dials before. 1665 but 7m serial number. I cannot see that it is right? Any ideas? Has an old dial been out in newer case - I've seen a couple of dials with white writing that were not double reds. also doesnt look like a faded double red. any ideas or pointers to research further |

Its looking like a MK3 but faded. Sadly the blurry image wont show much. Could you post better images and maybe also from the complete dial (also the under areas).
Are you sure about the 7 mil serial ? This will be a 1981 production. As far as I know the 1665 drsd has been up to 5.1 -5.2 mil range. |

I've added a few close up's pics and a few others.
Watch not in my possession yet, on hold, until I can verify. Comes with papers that match the serial on case and its a 1982 case for 1665, but dial is odd. Serial doesn't match dial or vice versa and movement is 1570. But trying to work out if the dial is a service dial, one from older model put into newer case (but Why?) has it faded (seems v unlikely) or worse case if its been repainted badly! and ultimately what affect it has on value and collectability. I see quite a few things off with that dial. If someone refinished it, Im sure they would have painted the lines in red. its close to a mk3.
Pictures can be misleading but case as well. |

Could you manage to get some good images of the serial and reference engravings? |

That's what is off about the dial paperwork and watch case defo 7m series but dial isnt and I cannot work out (and have asked seller) why this dial is in this watch? Someone suggested to me it could be a service dial. But Surely a lot of them would be on the market?

I bought a watch that turned out to be King Charles's favourite military watch (when i researched it) - that was issued in same batch as the one King Charles still wears. Just picked up 2 stop watches that were used in Rwnada by Dian Fossey team (Gorrila's in the Mist - based on her life) So, I thought this maybe something special too... :) your input is greatly appreciate though as it helps build a picture. |

That £8,500 is too good to be true….your decision to approach with extreme caution well advised….even the scruffiest white is £11,000 cheapest double red I’ve seen is £18,000, most £30-40k even for a loose goose.

The money is in the dial and case, I’d pass and buy a better example if you want to put a $4-$5000 correct bracelet on it
