Montblanc Alexandre Dumas Mechanical Pencil and Ballpoint Set

I have a lovely "set" of Montblanc Alexandre Dumas' writing instruments for sale. One is a mechanical pencil with the incorrect son's signature and the ball point has the correct father's signature.

The pencil has the outer sleeve and inner book box and the ballpoint has the inner book box. I am selling them to make room for some newer incoming acquisitions. I have had them both since 2010.

Interesting information:

The release of the Dumas LE pens with the incorrect son's signature is quite a story and well documented. Montblanc realized their error shortly after their release and attempted to recall the writing instruments with the wrong signature by sending out a recall letter. However there were an undetermined number of these that the owners chose not to return. Both the Dumas father and son were well know writers in their own times, but Dumas (Father) was the more famous having written "The Three Musketeer" and "The Count of Monte Cristo". As well as many other lesser works.

His son was the lesser known, but more prolific in his writings and plays. Never reaching the fame of his father, but still very well respected. dd

The release of the incorrect signature was an embarrassment for Montblanc and many collectors felt the incorrect versions would become a version of the pens with a steep premium. It probably would have, but there was no way of knowing exactly how many of them were actually still in collector's hands.

With all that said, these pens are some of the most beautiful in Montblanc's Writers Edition line.

Price for the pencil is $580.00 or best reasonable offer. This is including shipped and insured in the CONUS. Shipping will be a flat $25.00 for overseas.

Price for the ballpoint pen is $590.00 or best reasonable offer. This is including shipped and insured in the CONUS. Shipping will be a flat $25.00 for overseas.

You can have both of them for $1100.00 OBRO. Shipping for both overseas will be $25.00.
