This watch came to me on consignment 2 days ago and the watch didnt work. Rolex Canada quoted over $1300CDN for a full service so I had my watchsmith take a look. We replaced the original movement (3135) with an ETA 2836-2 (28,800bph) movement and hands to fit.

You bet it is. Check this part:

"This watch came to me on consignment 2 days ago and the watch didnt work. Rolex Canada quoted over $1300CDN for a full service so I had my watchsmith take a look. We replaced the original movement (3135) with an ETA 2836-2 (28,800bph) movement and hands to fit."

It's not only a frankenwatch, but he replaced a Rolex movement with an ETA. At $1800 CDN, that's much to high a price.

Its better to sell it is as an "as is" watch with a broken 3135 movement. Some folks would rather take it to RSC to get it running again, providing the asking price is reasonable.

I'm thinking he's cleverly trying to pass off a fake. By saying that it already has an ETA movement, you can really sue him for fraud, can you? Also, I wonder aht would happen if you took that watch to Rolex to get verified? Would they confiscate it? Would they replace the movement and charge you $$$$ for it?
