Hey Guys, Got The 1680 Sub!

Let me start off by saying wow.

Vintage watches are so much cooler than the new ones IMHO.
THe matte dial is gorgeous
I have a quick question about this watch.
The date wheel is silver
is that correct for this era?
also the divers extention doesn't fold over and snap back into place twice, but only once, unlike the new models. Is that ok or is the bracelet faulty
thanks!!

ill post pics when im done moving
camera is SOMEWHERE :)

Now,its just a question of how many weeks, before its sold .. History, repeats itself .... The OQ and the Panerai lasted about two weeks and the LV lasted 3 weeks. This one ? I would say about .... 4 weeks ??

Congratulations Aadi welcome to the proper Rolex club and thats the vintage ones, all the rest are just modern pretenders. And all your questions above are quite normal in the 1680 with 93150 bracelet .But you are sure getting though different watches very fast, hope this one is a keeper.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.... and I'm sure we are not alone Blue Bull.... I bet MANY TRF'ers are thinking the same thing - completely justified I'd say!

Congrats on a wonderfull watch. The 1680 is my favorite diver! Such a unique timepiece!!
Yes, a silver date wheel is correct and proper for the reference. If you notice, because of the unique crystal, the date appears just a bit bigger than other pieces.
Your bracelet is a 93150, what you're describing is correct.

Enjoy this one! They don't make em like that anymore!!!

Padi, this vintage piece is not original.Aadil is already looking for the original hands and insert, for the 1680,on another part of this forum .Aadil knew this when he bought the watch. What happened here, is that he traded his LV for the unoriginal 1680 and $1k.

A vintage piece needs to be 100% original, just like any modern Rolex.

I sure hope this 1680 is the "Keeper",but somehow ,I doubt it ....

Well the original hands would be very nice, but the bezel and hands are of secondary importance. The dial case movement Cal 1565/70 are the most important, inserts do get changed in the life of a watch. And if I remember a batch of hands on the 1680 had very poor lume/pitting quality, and again often replaced with service. But agree its always better to have 100% original if possible, but its still a very collectable watch.

This one has got the original tritium dial with almost NO aging
the hands and bezel were replaced.
The movement is original.
Its a great watch in mint.
I love it.
I wouldn't be buying hands and bezel if it weren't a keeper ;)
But I won't jinx anything
lets h ave a poll!

Like I said a set of period hands would be a bonus, but the bezel insert is not so important in real terms as the hands. They sometimes turn up on Ebay, and the various watch forums like Mike said.
