1680 help needed :)

When i hold it close to my ear i hear a ticking sound, like a audible ticking, quick ticking, should i be worried and have it opened?
it has service papers etc but maybe something is up... bought it from a great guy though.

is it normal for the oldie movements to be audible when no music or anything is playing you can hear distinct semi-loud ticking.

When i hold it away from me i can barely hear it even in silence
and when outside or at work no noise at all (unlike the OQ i had)

anyone with a 1680 care to enlighten me?

also is that polywatch stuff ok to use on the crystal? will it harm the watch at all? is there any canadian source i can get it from?
