Hi guys,
I recently brough my first ever Rolex!! A date Just 41mm Jubilee braclet in Stainless Steel and White gold with a Azzurro blue Roman numeral face. Even tho I brough it as a watch to keep I just wanted to know is this considered to be a good investment?

A good investment in that it can last your lifetime if cared for. Very few other watches can claim that.

It will reasonably be expected to retain good monetary value as compared to other watches too, if that is something you are concerned about.

Hi Larry,
Thank you for the quick response. Yes monetary value is what I was wanting to know as did I make a good choice when it came to the watch face and style with the Jubilee bracelet?

Nobody can really answer with any specificity.

I see you are new here Htariq. Welcome

I would just wear it for enjoyment and as to value/investment questions just search your model here in the classifieds, various Grey websites, Chrono24, etc etc

See what they are going for in comparison to what you paid. Here on TRF DateJusts used to be massively discounted, not super popular, and slow sellers way back when.

But times change. Congrats on having a Rolex at 22.

you guys need to settle down. new guy just spent a lot of money. looking to feel a little better about spending so much on a watch...which is a completely unnecessary purchase.

just sayin.

OP, did you buy gray or from an AD. If gray, no, not a good investment. From AD, yes, a good investment.

Welcome to the forum.

Leaving the investment to one side, what do you like about this watch and why did you buy it?

I like the simplicity of the watch and how minimalistic it is but yet soo intricate. I brough this watch to celebrate an achievement of getting my self a Law degree so it symbolizes all the hard work and hours i dedicated so I am going to look fondly on this watch I hope for years to come.

Well done for marking such an achievement!

If you started with this paragraph, you would have got a much warmer reception.

Have fun here!

When do you intend to sell it?

How much do you expect the return to be?

What other uses do you have for your capital?

OP - as you’ve experienced the whole “Rolex as an investment” is a thorny subject. If I may, I would suggest you enjoy your watch, feel the thrill and pride of owning one of the most recognizable brands on earth, and consider the outgoing future value as a mute point.

Rolex have historically held their value adequately compared to most other brands, so after years of wearing that beauty it will be one of the few things you purchased that will be worth probably as much as you paid or potentially more.

In the meantime enjoy! Welcome to the forum!

Nothing against OP, but this reason im trending towards other brands. A lot of people just buying a Rolex because now its an asset class. I’m sure a lot these watches will just sit in a safe and never see the light of day. Watches are to be worn and enjoyed.
