Bought Vintage Rolex, i don’t now ref and dial, need help

Hello Members,

i bough an old Rolex lady date in full gold, without box and papers.
The problem is, i don’t know the Referencenumber and i don’t know if these are factory set diamonds.

Most important, i don’t know what dial this is, can’t find the exact same one anywhere. It looks like stone an very deep blue.
I attach some pictures, maybe you guys can help me.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!

I assume this is a 26mm ladies watch.

The reference could be 69178 or the predecessor 6917ish, to help you with your research.

However, you can save some time by having a watchmaker remove the bracelet so you can see the reference numbers (serial and model) and that will avoid the guessing part of this research.

The bezel appears fine but can't say much for the dial. Maybe take a closer pic and some folks around here can help you further..

Welcome to the forum. As stated, better pictures and some between the lugs will help.

it is a 6917 (plastic crystal) and does have a 2035 movement inside. This dials doesnt have feets, they are "clipped" onto the movement. You can use dials from 2135 movements as well. They are switchable and not that expensive.

I dont think your actual dial is a "stone dial". There isnt a gold surrounding around the date window. Furthermore the area around the date window looks gold faded on the left side.

The dial doesnt look bad on the first image. Die diamond setting could be legit, but to give a serious view, we do need better images.

Nice watch, enjoy it!

Use a paper clip to remove the bracelet, reference number between the lugs as already stated. I am not familiar with this reference but should the bracelet end links have cut outs if this watch has holes in the lugs for bracelet removal? I thought the cut outs were only for those without holes in the end links. Perhaps a later bracelet?

The Date is smaller than the Ladies Datejust at 24mm.

I would suspect that the Ladies President bracelet and the bezel have been added.

The reference number is on the side under the bracelet end link.

Can you check that for me please, as I don't think there is a difference in case size between the Ladies Date and Datejust; both are 26mm I believe.

Not for pedantic reasons, I need to know for a project and want to check my assumption or else I'm in trouble.

On the OP's watch, I think the diamond set dial is an aftermarket add on, as well as the bezel as noted above.

. . .
You may be right. The Ladies OP is definitely 24mm.

If the Date and Datejust are the same size then there is little point, except, that the DJ could be had with fluted or diamond bezels and the prez bracelet while the Date would not. That would make everything here added on.
