GUB Glashutte Spezichron Restomod

Hello folks,

When I acquired my GUB Spezichron I wanted to get a blue dial one but at the time I could not find one in the right conditions and at the right price.
Recently I spotted a NOS blue dial on Ebay and after getting it I told to myself: it would be nice to get the case replated since it is quite scuffed up. So I got the case replated at replateit.com (did a great job) and then threw in a fine mesh metal bracelet to complete the watch.

I am quite happy with the result. The blue dial is very interesting as it changes appearance depending on how the light hits it (see photos below). Unfortunately, I overlooked the crystal and now I realize that I would have to overhaul it as well to make the watch more harmonious (you can't really see in the photos, but it is scratched up). Also date is sticking a bit... but I have spent enough money on this watch for now!

Absolutely stunning. I’ve been searching for a nice example for over a year now and have passed on a few and missed on one as well. Congratulations..

Thanks!

I got mine on Ebay and I did have to wait a bit to find a decent example at a fair price. Considering the money that I have spent in restorations and modifications, I probably spent more than what the best examples were sold for but I think that my watch is currently in better cosmetic shape than anything I have seen out there.

Happy hunting!
