Rolex 16710 advice

Hi all,

My first post on this forum and just looking for some advice regarding a watch I am looking to buy.

From my knowledge looks to be polished but unsure if there is anything else of concern?

Priced at £9950 and from 1995

It appears to have been "polished.'" Finding a 30-year-old watch in nice, unpolished condition would not be an easy task. Most watches from that era have been serviced and polished at some point during the life of the watch. The ones that were worn for 30 years would normally look like a 30-year-old watch.

I would recommend you find a vintage or neo vintage watch in excellent condition and worry less about the internet pundits that believe only an unpolished Rolex is worthy of a purchase. There are many watches for sale that have been properly or minimally refinished or "polished" which are available for sale.

Every edge is blurred out in the pics so it’s definitely polished. Nice case back sticker. No need to rush into a purchase in this market.

Not a lot to go with with only a couple of pictures.

Interesting to see the near full green sticker in the back.

The edge of the case has a pronounced cut not normal for this model, maybe it had case work.

Don't know where you are seeing this - if offered by a reputable seller - but definitely get the reference numbers checked out and movement.

The watch is listed on watchfinder

Watch comes with box and papers (not something that is particularly important to me)

Not sure if this is allowed but which dealers would members suggest I look for a decent honest example (London).

My background has been in restoring antique clocks and watches, so hopefully I can help someone else out in the future with advice on that end.

My background it in restoration of antique clocks and watches but sadly I don't have that much experience with Rolex watches past the 1940s.

BQ watches could be worth a look but being anywhere near London probably commands a slightly higher price

Watch has been polished (as noted above). Nice condition overall. Original serif insert and Tritium dial are present - so far so good.

This one has the submariner 93150 bracelet. This is totally normal to find on a GMT of this vintage. I prefer a 78360 bracelet with these older GMTs though. I find the svelteness of their clasps is better proportioned to the slim GMT case. But that’s just my preference.

Nice watch and not terribly overpriced in todays’ market.

Just reading on other forums about the so called bexley edge and if this what could have happened to this example as its based in the UK?

The "Bexley edge" is not original for a GMT of this vintage and from what I can see, the watch does not have Bexley chamfers anyway.
