New to the club - Datejust 41

Hey folks, figured what better for my first post than to share my first Rolex with you all!

I know, for most of you this is nothing exciting, but I'm really enjoying my new Datejust 41.

This past November I had started working with a local AD to source the new Oyster Perpetual 41 in either "bright black" or "bright blue" (I do like the new fun colors...but really wanted something in a more classic color) and really had my heart set on that model.

Last week I get a text from my AD and they still hadn't received the new OP41's, but he did offer me the Datejust 41 they had just received...smooth bezel, oyster bracelet...as close to the OP41 as you can get from a DJ. My initial reaction was to decline, and I responded that I'd prefer to wait for the OP41 as I had originally planned.

That night I ended up doing a lot of comparison research between the OP41 and DJ41, and had a nagging feeling that I may have just made a mistake passing up the DJ41. The next morning, I ended up showing my wife side-by-side pictures of the DJ41 (smooth bezel, oyster bracelet config) and OP41, and she said she liked the look of the DJ41 better.

At this point I was sure I had missed the boat on that DJ41, but figured I'd text my AD to let him know if they got another one in before they got the OP41 in, that I'd be interested in the DJ41. To my surprise, he texted me back that the DJ41 was still available, and would be set aside for me to come in to check out the following day.

The DJ41 is now mine, and I'm extremely happy with it. And pics or it never happened:

I have the identical watch and love it. The best all purpose Rolex, especially in your configuration. Great for business and casual. You couldn’t have made a better choice.

Thanks for the kind words folks, I'm still really enjoying the DJ41. Really glad I made the choice to go with this instead of waiting for the OP41.

Beautiful watch, I have a 34MM Date for years. How do you like the 41?

I think the 41 is a great size. I "upgraded" from a 38.5mm Omega Aqua Terra, which I felt wore too small for my preference. I like the fit of the the DJ41 better...plus the Easylink!

Beautiful watch. Congratulations. How are you liking the polished mid links (vs brushed on OP)?
Personally I think you made the right choice, the OP is just way to hyped right now. My local flipper has them in stock, above the msrp of a DJ. Hopefully the craziness will die down a bit.

Thank you. I personally don't have any issues with PCL's (my Aqua Terra also had PCL's so I already knew what I was getting into with that), and on the DJ41 I think it goes rather well with all of the other polished surfaces.

Thanks! Wrist weighed in a hair over 7 inches this morning.

IMG_0034 copy.jpg

I feel like the larger size of the DJ41 (vs. the DJ36/OP36), particularly in the smooth bezel and oyster bracelet configuration, lends more towards an every-day-wear sportier look on my wrist but can also pull double-duty with a suit, which is really what I was looking for out of this piece.

I just purchased the exact same configuration, and it hasn’t left my wrist. I’m a one-watch kind of guy, or have always tried to be, and I find that the DJ41 black/smooth/oyster works with everything.

I definitely agree that the DJ41 black/smooth/oyster has worked with everything for me as well so far!

Congrats on your purchase as well

This alone is a win! My wife says a DJ41 and the Sub “look the same”

To be honest the DJ on oyster with smooth bezel is my preference. Great choice!

A couple more pics from over the weekend, played with some reflections (parked in the car, and then watching the Bruins vs. Penguins game).
