Pearlized or opalised tritium
Have a 16610 dial, tritium, with this odd opal look in the markers and hands under UV light. Thoughts??

Need better photos. Initial impression it looks original.
Different UV wavelengths can sometimes leave different "Sparkles" but you need better photos.

I've never seen Rolex hands look like those found in either photo in this thread. I've seen the old "green glow" hands sparkle under a blue light but those hands were pretty much out of production by 1968.
I've purchased a couple watches in the past with hands that had these same type of characteristics/colors but once removed and examined you could tell they were aftermarket.

Yea, all original. But my photos are poor. You have the exact same look.

I've seen tiny traces of those little sparkles on original tritium under UV. My (former) 1655 had faint traces of it. However, the OP's example looks a lot more extreme. Not saying it's not legit, but I agree with Springer that it looks a little odd.
I don't have a better photo of my old 1655 under UV, but on the 6 and 7 o'clock markers had faint traces of those tiny sparkles. |

My 5513 does that. Now JP has me nervous.
Glow falls off immediately and completely. I’m using a flashlight I bought off Amazon to look for puppy mistakes lol

Go through all of them, particularly the 80s and 90s, and you will see this.
And get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think it may be an anomaly like the purple sub dials, a slight change in the formulation or a switch from vendors.

So I was just looking through some GMT hands, and found another set with the same effect. This was off of a X serial number and the original was off a N serial number. Dates it to 1991, anyone know what year the purple subs were?

Ok, just finished working on a 1984 submariner, this has the purple dial. It also has Opal hands and markers. I will post magnified pictures this week. Definitely not a relume. So do I get to patent this as Opalised??
