Well that was close, my Sub fell off!

So last night I'm at an award banquet for my wife, I tend to shake my wrist back and forth every once in a while, mainly to shift the watch a little bit, when I did, it got really loose and came apart! A pin came undone, luckily my arm was resting on my leg and the watch didn't fall to the ground and I was able to find the pin.

Totally my fault as this was a pin I removed to size the bracelet, I must not have tightened it enough. Do you guys use a touch of blue loctite on your pins or just check them occasionally?

So thankful it didn't fall off while walking through a parking lot or when hanging my arm out the window when I drive! Maybe I should buy a lotto ticket!

So one of the bracelet pins unscrewed and fell out. Doesn’t happen that often. You usually feel one protrude when they become slightly loose. I run my fingers down the sides of my bracelets regularly as a check system. I don’t use any loctite but if you do, use purple strength.

Close call. I personally use the loctite, the purple as suggested above.

Loctite, yes...but not the blue. You'll never get that screw out again. Use the Purple.

Had the same thing happen with my Sub at dinner one night a few years ago it! Was sitting at the bar and it fell all the way to the floor luckily no damage but now I always keep an eye on how tight the pins are on

Happened to me years ago too. I didn’t have time to find locktite or order it so I used clear nail polish. That was at least a few years ago. Haven’t had a single issue since.

I always use Blue, no problems whatsoever. Red is the one to avoid

I didn't think you'd be able to generate enough torque to remove it with the blue. Good to know.

Red...forget it, though! haha

That's a shame not to use the oyster bracelet due to forgetting a drop of loctite. It's cheap and works great, highly recommend it!

Over the years I have used several strengths of loctite with other brands of bracelets. (oddly enough, I have never had a Rolex bracelet require it in over 20 year?). That said, PURPLE is what is ideal to use. I have used blue before and it is a little strong for a watch bracelet. I had to heat up a bracelet link to loosen blue loctite. You can bugger up a screw head easily if you have them locked down too tight. I have even used clear nail polish and it will do the trick in a pinch. I recomend only applying purple Loctite to screws that have been removed or the ones that have a tendency to slightly back out. FYI...Rolex uses a thread locker from the factory.

After the same happening to my blnr [when sized wasnt screwed in tight and / or no loctite]..
I now do the same as Mystro,,just gently running fingertips across the top of the bracelet,,,,,,

Just another tip; Make sure you apply the loctite the female threaded hole and not the male threads on the pin/screw. Applying it to the pin will spread the loctite throughout the links and can bind up the bracelet.

I always thought it was Blue -> Purple -> Red in order from weak to strong?

I'll head over to Home Depot and pick up some Purple......and a Lotto Ticket!

Nope. Purple is lightest strength. At least purple no.222 which is what I use.

FYI...Purple is hard to find. My Lowe’s didn’t carry it.

I had to get mine through amazon.

This was a pin closest to the bracelet, maybe that's why or maybe I just need to pay a little more attention! I'll definitely pay more attention!

One small tube will last you a lifetime of watches.
Yea, the 911 and Rolex community seem so share the same sickness for both. I am guessing similar personalities and a affinity for timeless quality.

Yup, my shot in my driveway years back. The pic has gotten around over the years. It was used in a German “dream car” poster/calendar series. It’s currently on a billboard outside of State College Pa for my local Indy Porsche garage is using it. Penn State fans might recognize it going to Happy Valley.
I love taking auto and watch pics. Some have really got around in advertisements, etc.. Some of my forum pics were ripped off years back and used for unauthorized advertising and sales. My forum brother brought it to my attention. This is why I try to sign all my posted pics.

I really appreciate all the replies and glad to know that it's not just me, although it was clearly my fault! On my way to look for some purple loctite. :)

Very true...I've had this happen with a watch sized by the AD. Aggravating, but a simple fix.
