Icon20 Submariner waiting list in Canada

Hi, I ordered my first Rolex from Raffi Jewellers (square one) in July. A steel submariner date. I was told there was a waiting list, backlog, etc on these watches and that it would be a 4 month wait. I called another AD (Knar in Oakville) this week to see what story they have on the steel subs and they said they are not accepting any orders on steel submariners until 2019.

I am excited to finally get this watch but starting to fear it might be a very long wait to get it, and possibly much longer than the 4 months I was told.

Does anyone have some feedback or experience buying one of these models in the GTA, or what is happening with the Rolex steel sub market right now?

That’s nuts. I’d spend the day strolling into all of the several ADs in GTA and asking on the spot. Last time I was in my AD they had one in the case but it wouldn’t be any good for you with current fx rates.

Call around and ask TRF member's help to check. On the FB group the Rolex collectors world, sometimes they notice about availablity of your model if you need.

One AD asked for the premium for the Sub when I tried to get in the waiting list.

I am about to begin this journey.

Did you ever get the Submariner? How long did you wait?

I am going to the same AD at Square One. Did you get any discount or did you pay retail?

I am thinking about the no date sub.

Thanks,

Vin

Go grey,,,,,you won't get the watch here, I tried and I know guys that spend HUGE $ at some of the ADs and don't even have that much pull, I'm on 4 lists right now for so long and I follow up etc

Raffi let you order the watch? That's odd? They took a deposit or? Because you can't go to any AD in GTA and order a sought after watch like a sub,,,,, a datejust sure but hulk/batman/black sub etc they put you on a "list" which is basically BS

Ya a few ADs told me they just sell to first come first serve BUT I know guys in the biz that work closely with ADS they all have watches in the back or not for sale that they will sell but for a huge premium,,,,,Im sure not all ADs do it but one my friend is friends with has like 3 pespis sitting there but wants like 20k plus

Raffi is the worst you will NEVER get a watch from them unless you spend a TON of money

OP, did you get your watch? Sq1 Raffi also told me I could "order" the watch, but no timeline on when it comes in. Which sounds sketchy to me.

I'm having trouble finding SS models in the GTA too, even after purchasing a TT GMT recently.

Raffi told you that you could order? When was this? Right now all of GTA only 4 locations taking people for waitlist, I called every single one in Ontario. Maybe if you go in person might be a different story?
I ended up going grey for the sub I wanted but am on list for Batman and hulk,,,,which I'm never getting but fun to be on a list lolol

Unless you have made substantial purchases you will have a difficult time getting a sub in the GTA.

That’s not enough. Diamond rings is what they want.

One of the places mentioned gets around 50 calls a day. Doesn’t do any good.

If you haven't visited already, I would recommend either Royal des Versailles or Watchfinder in Toronto. In my experience, the staff at both locations are great, and they're less than a five minute walk from each other. Good luck with the hunt.

Ya I know lol but they put me on their "list" lol from talking to them didn't seem promising at all and that why I bought my sub grey. All other places just said they aren't taking names, 4 said they are maybe just to shut people up lol

I was at Raffi (different location) back in the fall and was told that they would take full payment for a Sub and I would have the watch within 6 months. I declined.

I ended up buying a DJ at my local AD a few weeks ago. Once I made that purchase my wait time on the Sub list was three days.

Yorkdale. I don't live in Toronto so it didn't make much sense for me. I decided to try and build a relationship with an AD in my home city and it's worked out so far.

Thanks for all the quick responses!

Looks like I will roll the dice, start calling and start visiting the AD's.

Wish me luck!
