Rolex service only through dealers

Was at Dallas a few days ago, to drop off my sub, datejust and daydate service since I'd be in Dallas for a few days. I was informed that no longer drop off at the service centers and had to go through a dealer. Dropped off all 3 watches to a local dealer with Rolex certified tech to get my watches serviced, since it would cost another few hundred $$$ to sent out to Dallas.

Simply from a channel perspective this could make sense for modern watches if owners have an AD relationship.

But not so wise for ADs who get jammed up with unknown incoming owners. There is nothing in it for them.
The number of ADs is shrinking while Rolex plans to grow output. That means a potential chokepoint.

I'd guess the person who said this may have had some wires mixed up. I believe he meant warranty work must soon go through the AD. Maybe to control secondary market sellers' ability to sell Rolexes with warranty intact?

Another valid reason to consider a reputable CW 21 for service involving vintage or discontinued Rolex references.

It appears that the RSC in Dallas has a closed door policy.

Rolex service only through dealers

You can ship directly to either of the 2 main RSC’s in the US. Unfortunately for the many owners who live in Dallas, as of last Spring they closed the drop off section of the service center. Not sure about the NY one.

Interesting. You can still make an appointment and drop off at RSC in Toronto
