Which one to buy?
2007 Rolex 16710 with 3186 movement or 2016 116622 yacht master with platinum dial / bezel? And why?

16710 for me.
The 16710/3186 had a short run of <12 months. Will likely hold value compared to the YM. More versatile with the GMT function.

Difficult choice but I would go for the YM.

16710 no question for me. Only watch Rolex ever made that is essentially 6 watches in one. Quick google search and you'll see what I mean, OP.

I use multiple time zones and I have no use for a big knobbly bezel. GMT is my choice, you do you.

I’m going GMT. Don’t really care about the movement and wouldn’t pay extra for a 3186, I just like the GMT

16710 for sure. I never really cared for the YM personally. 3185 movement would be fine too.

I feel like I am always on the wrong side - but I would get the 116622 - the case and bracelet are just that much better (newer to Rolex specifics but I am assuming the 16710 has the older case)

GMT all day.
Reason: You have a lot of traffic on here about it. It seems to be the one you want. |

For me the YM. The 5 digit GMT feels like an old watch compared to the 6 digit and lacks the allure of a classic vintage

Buy the one that puts the biggest smile on your face.
If it is the 16710 then so be it but do not get caught in the 3186 hype, sure Rolex made less of them than the 3185, no one knows how many, they are not rare. If you fall for that then consider the APH dial on the Daytona and the stick mistake dial on the 16710. |

16710 but like Bill said don't stress about movement. Buy condition not movement.

Thanks all! I got a stick dial late Z all black bezel 16710 with the 3186 movement. Wanted an error dial and a later year production run. Seems like 95% of the 16710 was born with the 3185 so I like the rarity. Got a great deal too!
