WTB rolex screwdriver

Por Favor,,
Need a ROLEX screwdriver for the Oyster bracelette.
Is there also a tool for the new SEL bracelette removal?

Well, I only presumed that since they produce such fine tools, what's a screwdriver...surely they must have one in their line-up.

The other alternative is to do what I do. Get yourself the BEST screwdriver going....the Sea-Dweller one. You do get it free with the SD if you so choose to buy the watch, but there are quite a few going on sale on e-bay. I'm talking about this one. Remember, that it's too big and, therefore, useless against the Jubilee and any Lady's Rolex. However, for the sports OYSTER bracelets, it's PERFECT!!

That's the one I'm after.
I don't think my SD came with one though, but I bought it 30 years ago.
Can't remember.
The box has disappeared as well.
Saw some screwdrivers like the above on Ebay for $40, I think the SD wasn't much more than that in the mid seventies

Thanks for the invitation JJ, but my older SD still makes me grin from ear to ear. It's been below 200ft on several occasions and has become part of the family.

Are the bracelet screws all the same size on the sports (professional) watches?
IE: are the Explorer 114270 bracelette screws the same size as the SD
screws ?

Good question, and my answer would be YES!! Since the Explorer 1 also uses the same Oysterlock bracelet as the GMT-II and Exp-II, the SD screwdriver pictured above should work fine.

The head is around 1 mm...so a bit big for the Jubilee and Lady's models. However, for the sports Oyster range - PERFECT!!

will this tool work for the spring bars on the new style secret pin cases?

my GMTII is a 2003 model with visible pins and so i can see how the spring tool would work - but my subs are both newer models with the secret pins. what is the easiest/best way to remove and refit the bracelets on the newer models.

It's easy. Below is a picture of the bracelet I took off my TT Blue Sub which was the new style case WITHOUT lug holes. And I used the very same SD screwdriver pictured on the previous page!! Just follow these simple steps...

1. Separate bracelet at the clasp by removing the small micro-adjusting pin.
2. Place watch face down on a soft cloth.
3. Now cover the end of the spring bar with some cellotape and insert the end of the screwdriver just behind the ridge of the pin. PUSH INWARDS and get a tight grip on the SEL.
4. Repeat the same at the other end and the SEL will come free. Remember, the SEL (Solid End Link) is an integrated part of the bracelet and will not come separate from the rest of the bracelet.
5. Do the same thing on the other side and you'll have the bracelet completely off so you can check your serial number at 6 o'clock and the model number at 12 o'clock.





And you can also check the part number of your bracelet which is etched on the inside of the SEL...

thanks JJ for the very useful info... i've found a few of the drivers on ebay so will be buying one of these as not having an SD i don't already own one.

OK well got the bergen spring bar tool the other day although will still be speaking to my AD in the morning about ordering me a rolex screwdriver (especially as I believe they're not too expensive)
removing the strap etc i've found is the easy bit.. it's getting the spring bar back in place that i've found nigh on impossible...

no probs, was simply wondering.. whilst i love mine - i've considered selling it simply because i'm never 100% comfortable wearing it (as i'm a very casual dresser ) and think it stands out too much - and prefer the subtle looks of the SS bracelet

That said i've been wearing the Blue TT sub for the past 2 days and am getting quite used to it (perhaps it's cause the sun has come out in the UK this week...
)

Andy,

Getting the spring bar in place is quite easy...just follow these simple steps:

Place the watch face down on a soft cloth. Pass the lug pin through the SEL and place it gently on top of the lugs. Before that, use tiny pieces of cellotape on top of the lugs so you don't scratch them. This tape can be peeled off later after you've completed the job.

Then holding one end firmly with your thumb and index finger, use the end of the tool to push the spring pin inwards till it snaps into place.

Maintaining a firm hold, do the same at the other end until that also snaps into place. BINGO!! Repeat process on the opposite lug.

ah yes - it's the pieces of cellotape on the lugs that makes sense... stop them getting scratched. good tip..

also went to my AD today... enquired about the SD screwdriver - should know on Monday about if you can buy it (as they said they'd need to check.
