Dial swap 15300st to blue

I’m hearing mixed things on dial swap to blue. I have a white dial 15300 and I’m hearing AP will swap it to blue if I ask the right person. Has anyone done this recently or know if AP will still allow it?

I would think it's like anything else if you asked enough, someone would say yes; but still many would say no...

I had a white 15300 serviced in 2019 and they wouldn't do it, the request went through the boutique in NYC where i dropped the watch off.

Also hearing mixed messages as i have seen AP honor this request, just didn't work for me.

I don't think so, at least that's what I understand for 400 and 500. But easiest to just ask AP service center.

So I noticed that you can find separate new service dials for sale floating around for various models. This 15300 blue dial is ~$10k USD:

I guess you could buy one of those and get a watchmaker to swap it in. It would be a frankenwatch, but as long as you don't try to scam anyone else it seems harmless?

I asked about this for my 15400ST grey, they said the rule is:

1. You are a boutique client.

2. You have to have bought from the watch from the boutique, since blue is a boutique exclusive.

3. 3 years must have passed from date of purchase.

This was 2 years ago, rules could have changed with time.

This sounds right. I inquired about this subject this summer. The other part that goes without saying is that a full service will also be required.

I enquired about a 15300 with a blue swapped dial a few months ago. The seller showed me documentation that the dial was swapped to blue from white or black by AP Service center for 2.850 euros incl. taxes, the service was done in April 2021.

From what I've seen, all the replacement dials blue sunburst as opposed to the more matte dial which used to be the standard on the 15300. But as others are pointing out, I believe you probably need some sort of good-will from the local AP boutique, service center or technician to make this happen.

In theory you can buy a service dial from Chrono24 etc., they pop up every now and then and seem to be going for around 8-10.000 euros. As long as the seller is reputable, I don't think there's any reason to believe that the dials are not legit.

For those considering it for the 15400, keep in mind that the colors of the date wheels differ with the dial colors on these models.

I've also heard many different experiences on changing to a blue dial and what is allowed and what isn't. Personally I believe if you are a high roller client, they will do it, otherwise they will give all the criteria.

Best is to ask, worst they can say is no and then you don't need to think about it anymore.

Matte dials are older, most likely made by Stern Creations.
