I realize that everybody has to start somewhere on Ebay, but I wouldn't buy anything (again) from a seller with zero feedback.

Yeah, I'm puzzled by it. I only do 50s & 60s, so don't know much about modern.

I'm working under the assumption it's dodgy, but if it is, I wouldn't say it's an obvious fake from pics alone.

If it is real, I think you'd have to be mad to sell a watch of that value on eBay when you have absolutely zero feedback & no reserve.

If it seems to good to be true, it is! Lots of bad sellers on eBay who want to rip everyone off!

Couldn't agree more.

I just love a puzzle & can't immediately see the catch here, so messaged the seller to investigate further out of pure curiosity!

Interested in what you hear back. What smells fishy is a seller who is so informed about a Patrizzi Dial but is so amateurish as not to show more details about the papers or close-ups of the dial.

These could be lifted pics - so asking for more pics might help...

Puzzling for sure.

Precisely that apparent knowledge of the watch, but no clue how to sell on eBay that's weird.

My first message to eBay watch sellers is always:

"Whenever I buy a watch I always take it straight to a main dealer for a service, so if there are any 'issues', they'd quickly become apparent & I'd return the watch to the seller. With this in mind, would you be happy for me to bid, or would you prefer I pass on this one?"

I've generally found that the dodgy types don't bother to respond to that, but genuine sellers respond very positively.

Will report back if I get a response & then maybe ask for more pics...

9 bids....there's a sucker born everyday. I'd guess lifted pictures but who knows.

I don't really know anything about pay pal claims, what's to stop a person from rolling the dice on this and if it indeed is delivered as a fake you can just get refunded through pay pal??

you can open a dispute via paypal, i f you pay via paypal, which take around 30 days in which paypal investigate, when you claim that the item is nor original, usually you get your money back but i does take forever

If it is fake, so long as you went through PayPal, you would get your money back eventually.

The more I compare those pics to definitely real ones, I reckon those eBay pics are a genuine example, the question is, would that be the watch he sends???

Two days later & no response from the seller, so I reckon it's 75% likely that the watch in the pics isn't the watch he'd actually send out.

.
Thats very good advice. I have been ripped off by a reputed seller who had thousands of positive feedbacks. I bought the watch on good faith as "buy the seller" and I did not take the watch for inspection immediately but many months later. Basically:
1. The dial was repainted but claimed original
2. It was a Tudor but the dial painted Rolex.
3. The caseback was swapped with a Rolex caseback.
4. The serial numbers were grinded off the case to avoid matching.

Therefore the lesson I learnt is the feedback of a seller is only a guide. You need to research, research and research.

(BTW, the seller is still selling.)

That really sucks. I feel your pain on that one. Did you try getting your money back, or was it just too far down the line?

Too far down the line. In fact it became a project now for me to find the proper dial and case so that the watch becomes whole again.

It is quite difficult to prove what happened once several months were gone. I learnt a lesson and now only buy when I am absolutely sure.
