Blancpain rumors?

I heard that an image surfaced of Blancpain’s planned update for the Fifty Fathoms. For the life of me, I can’t find said image. Anyone know where to search? Would absolutely love to get a sense for what they have in store. A moderate sized Fifty would instantly rise to the top of my list. Thanks!

I need it to be slightly different somehow. I’ve owned like every 40mm ltd and non of them stuck.

Upon further reflection, I might know what tim was referring to. At some point I’m 2020 or 2021, Blancpain hosted a design competition that was, if memory serves, only enterable by women. An image of the winning design was captured surreptitiously and posted on the inter-webs. While I can’t find the image anymore, I can tell you that the winner had printed and radially oriented Arabic numerals and appeared to have a blue dial and bezel.
No more could be discerned. Anyway, my initial impression of that design was …. meh. Hopefully I am wrong and that isn’t what it ends up looking like.

That's really bad. A plain old black 40mm no date will sell like hot cakes. Why are they over thinking about this?

Shrink the size down and slim the width of that bezel down, I’m in!

I like the text on the side, and haven’t got stick wrists so welcome a normal sized variant that isn’t shrunk to 40mm.

Doesn’t even have to be 40.3mm. Make it 42 and less thick than a birthday cake and half the watch collecting world will forget the submariner even exists as long as the price is right. The fact that they have failed to deliver what the market is so clearly clamoring for is mind-boggling. Must be the result of politics within Swatch because the level of incompetence failing this hard would require is probably unprecedented in human history.

Yup, they chose to sell small limited edition 40mm watches and lose everywhere else in their catalog. 45mm isn't going to make them money, surprised they keep it up.

Because this is a company run by morons. I’d buy one tomorrow full msrp. I would even be fine with 41-42 as the FF wears smaller than it states.

42mm, no date or side case engraving would be a dream. Honestly, I could even endure the case engraving and a date...just a little smaller and I'm finally in on the FF train. Nearly convinced myself to just bite the bullet and get the 45mm a couple years ago, but just couldn't do it. It wore very well, just slightly big for what I was looking for in that type of watch.

If they made a Ti 40mm no-date that comes with the Ti X-71 bracelet.... I would do unholy things to get my grubby mitts on it.

By selling a boatload of Bathys in China

As far as the future release, I think this blue mop ladies model FF is NOT really the future - the dial anyway. Interesting though that it is a 40mm FF without a limited production number on it with a traditional FF handset. In that sense, I bet there's a 40mm mainline FF in store for the anniversary that looks more like a shrunken 45mm vs all the special edition 40mm watches that have been more retro/vintage inspired.

That said, the 45mm wears small and the 1315 won't fit in a 40mm case so I would just by a current model. Titanium 45mm FF or 43mm Bathy, both on a full ti bracelet, killer watches and actually good value in this crazy market.

Would be thrilled to see a regular black FF in 40mm as well.

I've tried on both 45 FF and 43 Bathy - both have overhanging lugs on my puny wrist.

True actually. If the 45 wears smaller than its size, then the same should be and is true of the 40. The issue though is less the width and more the height - at over 13mm thick, a 40mm watch that wears like it’s 38mm misses the mark.

+1

Tried one on and passed FAST. If you can pull it off, get a 45mm FF.

meh, the world is awash with 40-42mm divers- already plenty to chose from, let's not homogenize everything to "average". Side engravings and odd sizings are a small sign of individuality, not everything has to work for everybody.
Leave the FF alone at 45 and the Bathy at 43. They fit some wrists well enough ....
