Need some help on a 1675
I'm looking to the experts here. I've exhausted my research and haven't found any conclusive answers.
I'm interested in a 1675 with a serial bringing it to 1960. It's got all the hallmarks of being original (chapter ring, small GMT hand, PCG, etc), EXCEPT it has a brown bezel. It's a stainless steel version and I'm just not convinced the bezel is original, despite the seller's claim. Does anyone have strong info on the bezel variants on 1675's in that timeframe? I think that style of 1675 lasted until 1964. Thanks!!! |

Thanks, springer, had a feeling you might respond.
As a follow-on, how much of an impact would it have on value? Assuming all else is original and it's in working condition. I'm not asking for a specific number, just in general. Thank you! Last edited by shane0mack; 5 December 2013 at 02:16 AM.. Reason: additional question |

I agree not original. I also agree that might not be a deal breaker. I wonder if it might be a faded brown insert from an early 1675/8. I bet that might look pretty cool.

My first thought was it might be a faded brown insert from a gold one. Pics would be great!

No pics yet, sorry. But yes, it must be a bezel from the 1675/8, and it looks cool as shit with the tropical dial.

Rick, that thing is a beauty! That's exactly the bezel. Your piece has aged really well.

X2. I've seen the brown inserts on the tropical/brown dials and it looked very nice. As far as value, it shouldn't be a factor at all. Source a correct insert and you are in business.

+1, I'd never let a bezel insert be a deal breaker if the price was right!
happy hunting. M |
