Just bought a new old-stock hulk; please reassure me wearing it is a good idea

I just got a new old-stock hulk. It's beautiful. Since it is brand new and there are only a limited number of brand new one's left, I feel like I'm destroying a piece of history if I take off the stickers and wear it.

I do not "flip" or resell. A small voice in the back of my mind is telling me to throw it in a safe to see what happens in ten years. But I am disgusted at that voice because I love this watch and want to give it serious wrist time.

Time to de-sticker and enjoy life?

That is quite a dilemma. What other watches do you wear regularly?

Life is way too short. You know what must be done - live it.

Just wear it. Why else did you buy it? Keep the box and papers. It'll appreciate anyway. Enjoy it.

Would of just bought a pre-owned one in good condition personally after it’s been polished up. No sense to me in buying a watch a couple grand over list to have stickers on it.

Congrats. Why not just buy pre-owned? Takes all the stress out.

Ouch. Yeah it's true it's like driving a new car off the lot. But I prefer unpolished and so many out there are polished for resale at 20K+++

I would not have bought an NIB watch if I intended to wear it ie. I would never buy a NIB watch. Let the speculators swindle each other for all I care.

I also bought a BNIB hulk. I even knew the guy that traded it in. I paid a little more but I wear it. If you bought BNIB because that’s what you really wanted then enjoy it.

A piece of history? lol What you have isn't the ark of the covenant. OP, it is a sad thing to see a Rolex in a safe. It's a pity. Wear it and enjoy the watch.

Honestly, I would put it away for posterity and just get another one to wear. But that’s just me. Also, I wouldn’t be too sure there are only few of these in NOS condition around. Pretty sure a whole series of people put some of these away.

wear or sell and invest the money. Whats the point of buying, paying insurance and maintenance, and not wearing. You'd just be paying money to own it and not enjoy it.

I cannot imagine purchasing a watch and sticking it in a safe for years. It's a watch that is meant to be worn. JMO of course.

Easy… if you bought it for an investment… stuff it in a safe and check on it in 10 yes. If you bought it because you love the watch and want to enjoy it… wear it. Might lose some value however you will get many years of enjoyment out of it too.

Wear and enjoy if you aren't planning to flip at some point. Otherwise it'll become a safe queen in which you'd essentially be doing it to resell.

Sell it and buy a slightly used one then? Problem solved

Would be a shame to dream about a watch and then park it in a safe

Life is short. Nothing is promised that you’ll even be here 10 years from now.

Wear it. It's a watch, not a piece of art.
