Omega Planet Ocean Chrono

Any thoughts on this watch? I am starting to like it a whole lot.

I love the orange dial marks and bezel. I love my PO. I get a lot of commets on this watch for it's unique styling.

The PO Chrono is one huge watch, I elected to buy the 45.5mm non chrono version because the chrono was too big for me (and then ended up trading my 45.5 for the 42mm version because the 45.4mm was too big in practice). If you like big watches you'll surely love it but it didn't work for me.

I do love POs though, in fact I'm wearing mine now:

I love the PO too, but without the sub-dials. I have the orange bezel - it really kicks on a black leather strap w/ orange stitching... Larry.

I have the orange bezel PO chrono with a SS bracelet. I really enjoy this watch as I love its looks, the dial is easy to read, and it keeps very accurate time. I've been wearing it exclusively since I bought it in late December, and it's been accurate to the second. It has pushed my Rolex SS Sub Date to secondary status.

I have the 45.5 PO with black Rubber strap. Great watch but the stap does not feel good on my wrist, I can only wear it one day at a time. I woud suggest getting the metal, I am going to change mine out.

I believe the Queen knighted him Sir George Daniels. The only negative I have heard about the PO is that it also has anti-reflective coating on the outside of the crystal, which can scratch.

That PO chrono is gorgeous. But that AR coating on the outside of the crystal would drive me absolutely insane...

I bought a PO chronograph in November of 07. I returned it 1 week later because the bezel was loose. The warranty work was going to be a LOONNG time to fix the bezel.

The AD was kind enough to get me a second PO chronograph which I picked up in December.

I returned that watch in 1 hour because the movement was defective....I wasn't able to set the watch when I got it home.

Currently I'm waiting for my 3rd PO chronograph...I hope third times a charm.

In the mean time, my SD 16660 (20 years old) continues to tick flawlessly away at +/- 1 sec every 2 days.

My PO is the most accurate mechanical watch I own @ +0.8 seconds/day.

Junk, that needs further explination. A $3000+Swiss watch with the good name of Omega, probably is not "junk" like anything there can be lemons

After two and a half years, mine gains less than one second per week and no problems. Probably not quite "junk" status. Then again, everyone has different experiences.

I should have rephrased my comment and apologize for making such a blanket, derogatory statement. I really like the look of the watch myself but have heard that Omega has had "Issues" with this particular movement? "Junk" was a poor choice and was not meant to offend anyone.

I have never been fond of those "Arrow" hands but otherwise it is a nice watch. I'd prefer the dial without orange Arabic numerals, though.

Google "Omega 33xx chrono reset" and decide for yourself whether the 33xx has problems. There were multiple reported failures of the new 33xx movement used in the Speedy BA, PO Chrono, and a few other models when it was first released five or so years ago. Whether or not a problem ever existed, the extent of any such problem, and whether it has been fixed remains a topic of debate.

Suffice it to say that I would not buy one produced before 2005. Further, I'm a fan of buying preowned or grey--but in the case of one of these movements, I would only buy from an AD IOT ensure warranty protection if you do have a problem.

I wish I had a heads up before I bought. The watch in only a few months old so it seems ok for now.

I was between the SUB and the PO so I bought the 42mm PO w/ss bracelet, and everytime I looked at it I wished I had the Rolex Sub, so I gave the watch back and got the Sub.

Later on I bought the 45.5 mm with rubber strap as kind of a knock about watch. It serves that purpose

I like the first watch you posted ... it's been growing on me, too. I only have one chrono and I can never get used to looking at the watch with that big second hand just sitting there.

One thing I didn't expect from wearing my Pepsi Bezel is how much I like colored bezels. I will probably get the orange bezel, non-chrono in a couple weeks ... and I like the arrow hands on it. I think they are unique.

My next colored bezel watch after the Omega will probably be a Sub LV

I love my Daytona, but sometimes I miss having the date. I also spend a lot of time in and around the water, so it would be nice to have a watch with chrono features that I could get wet or not be afraid to get beat up. Anybody who has spent time on a boat can tell you how banged up things get.

I don't own the watch but I think Omega did have problems with the 2500 movement in the initial production. First there was the 2500A, and then the 2500B (which had a winding problem if I remember) and now there's the 2500C and I've heard only good things about it. It's interesting in a collection because the co-axle movement is the first major change in watchmaking for for (can't remember, since the 1800's) and George Daniels is considered the most noted living horologist.

Oh, that sucks. Omega need to improve their quality control.
