Submariner 114060 - in person
Reading multiple posts, is there any place that would have a sub-c no date that one could try on in person? It seems not.

Dealers with physical locations tend to have a bit of everything. Surely you’ll find there

its hard to find a place you can try on because Sub-C is sold out before putting on the display.

Oddly, I have seen a number of Hulk "display" models, but never a "regular" Sub (date/no date). I wonder if this is standard?

If you're trying on for size, most ADs (when open) will have a sub of some sort to try. It might be solid gold, but it's still the same size.
It's harder to find a steel sub. There won't likely be one on display, but an AD with "one in the back" might be willing to let you try it, although not buy it. |

Tourneau preowned section.
They have a wide variety of Rolex for you to try on before you buy from a trusted seller on here. |

Sometimes going to your AD and saying look I know there's a register of interest but do you by chance have one so I can try it on to know if I definitely want one... 8/10 they have one in the back for "a client" who is going to pick it up later... Try it on, leave your number and say if he lets you down I'm here...

It would really pi$$ me off if I found out someone had been trying on a watch that was reserved or ordered in for me.

Sounds like a good idea for a business. Try the Rolex reference you want before getting on a list at the authorised dealer. By the way, is there a shop that rents Rolex, PP, AP watches. I bet with all this hot reference craze it would be a good business.

Browsing YouTube last night, I scrolled past a Producer Michael video that was titled “renting luxury watches”, so it must be a thing.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

personally, id be perfectly ok with it as long as it presents as new, and hasn't gone for a joy ride (stickers off in the case of a watch?) I've tried on plenty of watches as boutiques that i didn't end up buying, but im sure someone else did. i didn't do anything silly like remove stickers or resize the bracelet though - that should be reserved to those that pay to play

I've had ADs tell me "this watch is reserved for a customer, but you can look at it."
I think that's appropriate. |

The store manager at my AD let me try on his hulk that he was wearing at the time! Doesn't hurt to ask.
And as far as not wanting to buy a watch that someone else had tried on -- in fact when I bought my wife's TT DJ31 from them as a Christmas present, they said I could return it for a full refund if she didn't like it -- provided I "left the stickers on" and it wasn't damaged (they kept the registration card blank, too). The rational they gave me was "we can't sell a watch as new if someone else took it home and wore it for a few days before returning" -- which I thought was reasonable. -Dan

I think it depends... trying it on sitting down and looking at it - then the AD takes it back and gives it a good wipe down back in to a box. One, you'd never know. Two, it's not doing any harm to the watch in the slightest. But I understand where you are coming from.

You can try one at an AD, it's the easiest way to get a feel of the watch

If they have a PM or TT date model, try that. It will weigh more, but the shape will be similar.

My first Rolex purchase was a SubC which, I've since sold. I walked into my AD and there was one in the display case, then walked right out with it on my wrist. Timing is everything.
