Should Rolex extend their warranty?
With the mothership shut down, watches that may be nearing the end of their warranty can't be sent in for service.
Is the consumer out of luck or will there be an extension or abatement of the end of the warranty? This can be said to apply to all watch brands. Watcha think? |

My Z-Blue is in warranty and broken. It has two years to go so I expect it will get fixed inside the five year window. If it had two months or two weeks left on the warranty, I would expect Rolex to fix it ASAP after the shut down was lifted, and take into consideration the fact that it was in warranty when it failed. I'm confident this would be the case.
My AD is closed. I have sent them an email notifying them of the failure. The date and time of the email will speak for themselves. |

Mine was sent in for service and has been stuck there since February
I’m sure there is going to be leniency from some businesses |

I think Rolex has a pretty flexible warranty period under certain circumstances.

No, 5 years is plenty, I think by year 3, ‘issues’ should have already appeared.

I think Rolex will be flexible with watches that are approaching the end or are at the end of their warranty during this quarantine.

I agree Rolex will probably be somewhat flexible through Fall 2020 or end year.

I sure hope there will be an extension. My warranty is up in 2 months and my watch is running fast.

Id think not. if you have an issue now that you want to fix under warranty, send them an email now preferably with a video or photo so you have a record of the fault happening under warranty.

Trust me, Rolex will be glad to accept your watch for warranty repair even after few weeks or months after your warranty card expired. There is no need for extension

IMHO Rolex has done the right thing many, many times. Rolex agreeing to do warranty work is the least of my worries.
Relax, enjoy your time.

It would be a nice gesture, and the good PR would likely outweigh any related losses for Rolex. As I'm sure they are aware.

Current 5 year is generous but unless an issue I'm in no rush to shell out unnecessarily.

When I got the call from Goldsmiths about my incoming I was told that WOS were offering an additional 5 year guarantee on top of Rolex’s own making it a total of 10 years.... I thought that was quite a good offer but not sure if that’s something new?

I believe that WOS additional cover has kicked in quite recently. I wouldn't turn my nose up at that.

They often come out as the number one most respected brand in the world. A company in that position is one that takes care of their customers and I’d be certain they will make good on any and all warranty work with time flexibility
