Nautilus 5980/60G-001: Denim tone looks much, much better than it sounds

Has anyone tried the new Nautilus 5980/60G-001 on wrist, the one with the denim tone face and matching denim tone calfskin (or blue composite) strap? I didn't think I'd like a Nautilus with a leather strap and am not a Nautilus fanboy, but this definitely looked a lot better than it sounded. The lighter blue denim tone plus the way the watch came together had a distinct presence for me, and a fresh look for the Nautilus.

I just went into my local Patek boutique yesterday, more or less by coincidence.

I initially wanted to check out the Denim World time, as I've kind of typed a Patek world time for years now. Didn't really like the casual look on a dressy piece, and will have to get a pre-owned 5230 eventually.

The SA then brought out the 5980/60G and I was immediately blown away.

For context, I'm generally not a Nautilus guy. I've tried on several over the years, and they were just never my thing. In fact, I don't own a single Patek. I have multiple AP and VCs, but PP never really fully won me over so far.

By the way, I also tried on the new 5164 blue and I was able to confirm that I'll probably never own an Aquanaut. Just not my style.

Am I totally silly if I think that the 5980/60 looks awesome in real life? Has anybody here bought one?

Tried both 5980 and 5164 denim and pretty underwhelming IMO.

I've seen the 5980 at my AD and personally I was amazed at how perfect it all comes together. Much better than I was expecting after seeing the online pics.

This! I too tried it on a couple months ago at Patek Salon in London, and it's SO perfect! Definitely would get one if an opportunity presented itself.
