Grail DD40 purchase - discount in the UK

Yesterday I was delighted to hear news from my partner that he's buying me a Day-Date 40 in yellow gold - my grail watch! I'm over the moon!

He's ordered it from Goldsmiths in the UK and they said it would take 2-3 weeks to arrive, although I don't know whether it's coming fresh from Geneva or some display case somewhere in the UK. With it taking 2-3 weeks can I assume it's the former? Would be cool to receive the 'coffin box' package :)

I'm wondering what sort of a discount (if any?) we should be expecting, and what is achievable currently in the UK?

Thanks in advance

10% minimum. If Aurum group have one it will be coming from group stock, otherwise Geneva.

Surely the discount should have been agreed prior to ordering though ?

I would guess between 15 and 20% on a DD40.

Push for 15, settle on 12-13.
As you've shown eager interest prior to agreeing discount, they may call your bluff and say no or tiny discount. If so, just thank them for their time and say you'll have to reconsider.
If they're any good, they'll capitulate or call back while you're sitting it out round the corner in Starbucks?

Perhaps you're right, but he's not put down a deposit so there's no obligation to buy, as such...

The second post sounds about right. An experienced friend told me walking in and getting 20% off PM Rolex with no prior relationship is just not possible in the UK nowadays.

The problem is my partner is not much of a watch guy, only casually so, so he ends up just buying things without asking for discounts! It's a bit crazy. The AD had to bring up the subject of discounts when he bought a Big Pilot last year when he was happy to pay full price!

I was quoted around 23k by FH and GS prior to the price rise last year haven't tried since however an independent quoted me 23k as well but this was post price rise so around 15%

This was on the WG Olive dial so retail £27,650

If it's 2 to 3 weeks, pretty sure it will be from Geneva, otherwise if from Rolex UK just a few days.

When I bought my WG DD40 last year got 19% off and a free watch winder Mind you I am a regular customer and buy the wife's jewellery at my AD as well as Rolex watches.

Enjoy your grail

Out of London and not from a AD chain you might get 10-15%. Hunt around. Before Brexit you could easily get 20% so I would hate not to get at least 10% now, otherwise I'd buy from Chronext at 20% off.

The AD is in Manchester. We're just going to see what happens on the day.

Sure, but if the difference between Chronext and the AD is £2K plus then you have a decision to make. Don't forget we had a 10% price rise as well in Nov.
