Trade for a 2023 116500?

I have a 2023 Batman and a 2018 Sub date both complete set and I am thinking of trading both plus $6K-$7K for a Panda Daytona. Is this a bad idea?

I think it is yes.

I’d take the cash, buy a Speedy Pro and call it a day

For a new 2024 126500, it sounds about right. For an older 116500, add half the cash or less.

I would just look for a panda daytona at reasonable price, buy it, wear, it, hold for a bit, then decide which ones to sell after.

Price seems low to me for your two watches and high for the Daytona. Then again watch purchases are more emotional than rational, what you want is your choice.

If the Daytona is your dream piece and this is your only viable road to get it...
I say Go for it!

The Daytona is more special than the Sub or the GMT.

Pricing might be right. For me doing the trade is worth it because the Daytona is much more special.

Speaking for myself would not do that trade, and IMHO it is a completely a bad idea, the Daytona got to be the most over hyped Rolex watch ever but today hype sells today.

I'd do like others said and buy a daytona and later decide what goes.

I have all 3 (BLNR, Sub, Daytona)... I'll say the Daytona would be the first one I would get rid of if I had to. Absolutely no way I would trade in a BLNR and a Sub for the Daytona. Don't get me wrong the Daytona is a nice watch, but the novelty of having it wore out within a week of owning it. After that it just became another watch in the rotation.

Would not do. Many people have done it and have been disappointed in the end - myself included. Agree 100% with Peter. The Daytona is just "ok". I would not trade a BLNR for one... unless (maybe) it was a straight trade - and that's not happening.

I'm with T-Bone - Get a speedy pro hesalite and keep your BLNR. It's a much more interesting watch than the Ceramic Daytona imho.

But hey, if you love it - you love it ~

Horrible. 2 SS watches for one watch that is not that more at retail.

From a value perspective, I wouldn't do that trade. Appears low value assigned to your pieces and significant premium on the Daytona.
At the end of the day, do what your heart tells you. FWIW, I would want to have the Sub or the BLNR alongside the Daytona, not just the Daytona.

Two incredible watches plus quite a bit of cash for a great but very hyped watch. I wouldn't.

I'd just get it from an AD if thats possible for you. If its not possible, just forget about it, some you win, some you loose.

There are other watches and if you are incessantly thinking of it, do the trade.

In the UK a 2023 116500 is around GBP 24k. A 2023 BLNR is around 14k and and a 2018 sub date is around 11k.

But if you are buying from a dealer they will obviously not buy your watches at market value. they will perhaps give you around 11k for BLNR and around 8k for Sub. So from their perspective the deal seems fair (i.e. two watches plus GBP 5k).

In my view this is a trade up. I did the same thing (traded 3 watches for a 116500 panda and have been very happy with it because daytona is more special of a watch than any of those 3.

So in short, I would do the trade but will try to bring down the cash amount by a thousand or two.

PS: watch prices I note above are my view of market based on chrono24 and what I have seen on watchfinder, and few other websites. So dont be upset if they are not like accurate or something.

I'm in agreement with Padi, two watches and money for a Daytona. I have to admit, the Daytona isn't one of my favourite Rolex, certainly wouldn't give a GMT and a Sub + cash for one.

That’s nuts. I’m adding up $31K for a 116500. No way I would do that trade !! The Stainless Steel Daytona is very very special. But it isn’t $30K special.

Not a good idea in my book. you have two awesome watches the panda Daytona is nice but I think it's over hyped for what it has to offer. You have one with a date and a GMT function another one that is highly sought after the Submariner also has a date which is a good function to have on a watch and you want to trade both of them for a stopwatch with no date. Now I realize we're talking about a panda Daytona but still.. If I were you I would keep both and start saving eventually you'll get enough to buy that Panda Daytona and then you will have an awesome three watch collection.

Definitely NO, a GMT and a SUB for a Daytona? Never unless you really have to have it.
Then yes! I love a Daytona any? But not enough to give up 2 to get 1.

Cheers,

I love my daytona 126500ln. It would only go out the door in a trade for a white gold daytona.

Personally I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. Maybe try to reduce cash.

Speedys aren't comparable...unless your talking an Ed White model....otherwise modern speedys are way way too thick and big around to compare to a daytona. Two vastly different wearing watches.
