Batgirl VS No Date Sub VS ???

I'm picking up my "one" Rolex soon.

Previously I've owned
-Various datejusts
-Milgauss
-Various submariners ranging from vintage to more modern, but nothing newer than 2010 or so

I have come to the conclusion that I definitely want "a" sporty GMT/sub back in the rotation, but I'm not sure which. My main two options are...

1. Batgirl.
-Love the jubilee bracelet
-Don't mind going blingier since I have 2 or 3 "beater" divers like my Sinn for sketchy travel (I go to a lot of rough countries)
-The pop of color is awesome
-Don't like the bezel clicks or lack of. I actually use timing bezels quite a bit for random stuff like my morning coffee.

2. No date sub.
-It's a no date sub, about as classic as it gets
-Love the lack of cyclops. IMO it ruins a lot of Rolex smile
-No date means less can go wrong, not that I'm too worried with a Rolex, but it is nice having less moving parts in a watch when possible.
-Don't love the oyster as much as the jubilee
-Almost too monochromatic...

I was thinking of a Seadweller because of the pop of red on the dial...but I don't like the size. A nice compact/thin sports watch is a lot more enjoyable to wear IMO. Was also considering the yatchmaster with blue seconds hand, but I don't like the bezel action as much as the no date sub.

Is there anything else I should consider from the brand? Something without a date or no cyclops that has a bezel and a pop of color? I should add, I want to go as modern/new as possible. I like a lot of the new Rolex bracelet features and engineering in the newer movements. Vintage stresses me out too much anyways as there's too much fake stuff going on even when buying from good vintage guys, and too many concerns with waterproofing etc...which is a problem b/c I live in Vancouver where it rains 80% of the time lol.

For additional context, the rest of my collection is pretty varied. I have just about every "need" met :) This would probably be my "going somewhere safe for vacation" watch + the one I use when going on extended walks with my wife, etc!

If anyone owns both, do you gravitate towards one over the other when you do pick a "sporty" watch?

Ha looks great on the blue strap. Was thinking of doing something similar.

I guess yeah I've bought/sold subs a bunch, but I think it is also a signal I should just own a sub lol

BLNR is sensational. Absoluitely NO RAGRETS if you go that route.

I have a BLNR on jubilee and occasionally swap it out on the oyster bracelet and that’s been working out pretty well so far!

Two great watches, only you can decide.

For me the answer is clearly Sub but I don't particularly need a GMT functionality and miss the timing bezel which I also use. I also don't love the blue/black combo myself.

I do like the jubilee though!

I also like having a date so for me it's the 126610 for my "one" Rolex. But I totally get why others would go for the GMT as it fits their preferences better.

Oh...and Glidelock....so nice! I've had watches with easy link and I'm not a huge fan, the changes was a little too drastic for me. Glidelock lets you dial in the fit just right and also adjust on the fly easily.

Had both - only the BLNR on jubilee remains.

I have both and both are great and have different character. The Sub ND is more of a serious watch, iiconic, and fits all occasions.
The Batgirl, is a fun watch, blingy, more useful with Gmt and date complications.

Both wear and look great on the wrist.

For a single watch, I’d go with a Sub since i prefer the elapsed time bezel for a daily.

Find a mint / NOS 116600. You get the date without the cyclops. You get the bezel (fully graduated) to time things, which you said you liked to have. You get the matte dial. And you get the glidelock clasp that isn’t oversized like on the new 12xxxx.

If you want new new, I’d probably go BLNR of the two you listed.

I have both and love both, but I will 100 percent say my sub would be the last to go if I had to make a decision. My sub is a date model.

I do think the sub fits in more and just becomes part of you. It’s easily a watch I could and probably will wear forever. My blnr is just not ticking as many boxes as the sub. Maybe that will change with more wear, who knows.

As a one and only watch, Id say go for the sub but as part of a collection that also contains divers the BLNR is what I’d pick.

For what it’s worth I’m on my 2nd BLNR, having also had experience with an SD4K and SubC (ND) and I love the pop of colour and slightly more eye catching appeal plus having the iconic cyclops.

Ultimately you’ll be happy with either

I’d get the Sub firstly, then add the GMT.

My BLNR gets way more wrist time than my Sub C.

Killer watch. I think I would go BLNR if you are needing a little “nicer” watch. The current GMT case is pretty much perfect imho.

Recently picked up and it’s a banger.

As others have said, you cannot go wrong but I no long have my 12 series LN which is where I started.

Batgirl or LV! Pop of color either way. I like a date.

Good question 👌

I have a large collection and I try to wear all my watches equally in rotation or according to ossacion.

Having said that, sometimes when I want a more discrete watch I go for the Sub, while the Batgirl is more out loud and that is also cool.

Sub is very nice… but is boring and is everywhere. BLNR jubilee a perfect only Rolex if there ever was one.

Had a few different variants of sub, a sea-dweller and GMT.

Always come back to the sub. It is probably the most iconic watch in the world for a reason. You can’t go wrong with any of the above though. As already posted maybe give a 116600 a go?
