Counterfeit question at service.
I would never buy counterfeit anything & don't condone it.
Just curious as I thought I read somewhere (possibly on here) that if a counterfeit rolex got its way back to their HQ via a request of a service or some other way , that it was seized by Rolex & not returned. Is this the case ? And if so , what happens if you bought it in good faith & spent real Rolex kinda money in it ?. If its seized & your out of pocket is it just a tough, go sort it out with where you bought it. I know the popular answer will be "buy the seller" and only goto who you trust. Just curious that's all as I'd be slightly unhappy if I bought with good intentions, it turned out to be counterfeit and I'm down a watch and the money if seized.

I think rolex's reaction is relevent to the situation often. I know certainly from my expereience (With theRSC in the UK) that they do not always destroy them, but in fact sometimes simply remove all copy righted materials - crowns, names etc (and not in a nice way) and return it with a very rude letter! They also do this with heavily modified watches.

Ahh ok. Like I say, I'd never buy knowingly a fake rolex or fake anything as I know what kind of things that business helps fund but just curious.
I was telling someone that Rolex would just keep them and they replied with what if it was a genuine purchase and a lot of money spent so I passed the question on. Thanks.

It will be seized.
But why does it matter? I'm sure you won't want the fake back anyway if that was the case. Buy from an AD or trusted seller, and you don't have to worry.

Ahhh...this may or may not be true. I took a triple signed pocket watch(triple signed means dial, case, movement signed) to the NY RSC, likely manufactured in the 1920's or 1930's. They returned it to me, stating that they could not authenticate it, but they did not think it was genuine........now, if it had been a modern wristwatch, well, maybe they would have seized it. I doubt that they have a hard and fast policy, but I have no doubt they would destroy a "Bangkok Special"......

Like I say, it hasn't happened to me and I would only buy from a AD or from on here, I was just wondering that's all. Be interesting to find out.

I'm assuming his point or question was more along the lines if the watch was determined fake he wouldn't be able to return it back to the seller and try to get his money back. Just a thought.

I think the letter from Rolex would be enough proof that the watch is fake. In Rolex eyes if you didn't buy from AD, than its probably not a legit transaction.

I'm just curious if its fake and you pay £x,xxx amount , do rolex just seize the watch and leave you with no watch and out of pocket or do they return it with a letter saying its not legitimate ?.
